Well, my first run on the dyno as a baseline run, (set timing adjuster to stock for this run) was 251.57 rwhp and 281.87 rwtq. Tim said that this was very strong for my mods and he was impressed. He then began trying to tweak the A/F and timing in different places but couldn't get anymore HP out of it. He played with it for about 3 hours and just could not do any better than the tune that it already had. Wierd.

Tim compared my ECU data with one of a stock GT he did and found out that my computer had already been tweaked and/or tuned by Steeda (timing was even bumped in places). So I was suprised. No where did it ever say that I had a custom tuned stock ECU, the owner said nothing about it and the laminated card that came with the car to show the mods mentioned nothing of it. I'm suprised, so I guess that's why the previous owner was told to run 93 octane in it all the time and explains why it detonates on 87, LOL. Oh well. I dyno'd 230.0 rwhp / 272.6 rwtq stock (K&N + weld in flows) SAE on a dyno jet, which doesn't seem anymore powerful than most GT's stock (or is it?)

Anyways, he only charged me $75 for the whole thing because he wasn't able to gain anything and refused to charge anymore than that, really nice of him! The cost for a dyno tune is usually $400, only if gains are made I guess (that's quite a deal there). Anyways I kind of wish I had more but he said that a 2.5" catback would bump me up higher in the 250's most likely. Tim was impressed though that it put down what it did, so I thought that was pretty cool .

It was cool meeting everyone responsible for building / tuning badass Stangs like Michael Kidd's GT and Tim's Cobra Killer. Great bunch of people and I reccomend them to anyone who wants to get the most out of their Stangs.

Test conditions were 81* F and 29.02 baro.
Mod list:
FRPP 4.10 gear
Steeda Pulleys
Steeda Timing Adjuster @ 10* (set to stock for the dyno run)
Steeda Intake
Accufab 70mm TB
Accufab plenum
MAC Prochamber (off-road of course)
Stock 2.25" catback w/ weld in Flowmaster 40 original series mufflers
An apparently custom flashed / tuned ECU by Steeda.

I guess my #'s this time were automatically corrected to SAE on the dyno? That's how it worked when I dyno'd stock.

Odd. Not to compare really but, my a/f ratio was a little rich and I ended up with 260.4rwhp and 302.7rwtq and I have similar mods.

I have;

C&L Plenum
BBK 75MM Throttle Body
C&L True Flow Pipe
C&L 85MM MAF
ProCHamber
Weld-in Flows.

Towards the peak of my rpm's, my car was just about at 11 a/f. I've been thinking about letting Tim have at it with my car and see if he can squeeze out some extra ponies but, I didn't think much could be had at this point.

Btw, I don't mean to hijack your thread. It's just that, with similar mods and such, I find this interesting.

Yea I thought it was odd too. Not sure how to explain it. My A/F was 12.8-13.0 from about 4.5k-6k. I wouldn't think your MAF would have anything to do with it?

See, that's what doesn't make sense. If Tim says that's a lot for your mods and your A/F wasn't rich in the end, then I don't quite get it.

If that's the case, if I used like 91 octane and bumped my timing a tad w/ a tune and such, I should pick up even more with hardly any mods.. ?

I wouldn't think my MAF would have much to do with it. Most people will say it should lean you out but, it seems with my combination it did just the opposite.

Yep that's what I thought. And yea, you don't even have your timing bumped! lol. Maybe the density altitude was really high? It was really humid, but I'm not sure if that makes but a 1 or 2 rwhp diff. I'll dyno again sometime soon on some other dynojet and play around with the timing adjuster (doubt it'll gain anything since Tim said the timing is pretty much maxed out as is), but I would like to see.

Hrm, gives me thoughts. I spent all of 700 bux on 'go' mods and I seem to be doing pretty well. Almost seems like with a tune and my timing bumped, I'd pick up even more for the small amount I've spent.

Hehe, yeah you are doing awesome. Tim also said that the highest he had seen was 272 rwhp from a full bolt on GT w/ LTs. I guess that's about right considering that you need heads / cam to get near 300.

If that's the case, I should be able to shatter that with just pullies, LT's, advanced timing and a tune.

Yeah those are solid numbers, one thing you have to consider is the 4.10's are masking some power on the dyno, so it may have been closer to 260 rwhp if you had stock 3.27's in there. My car with an O/R X, catback, and pullies/TA made 260 rwhp/303 rwtq, bone stock intake tract, even the paper filter. I didn't get any A/F readings on my run though but it must have been fairly good A/F. Nice numbers, cool car!

Very strange that car had been tuned with timining advanced AND a timing adjuster. What the F?

The C&L MAF is supposed to lean you out you would probably be really rich without it.

Car was maxxed..Adding any more timing would not gain any HP ..I tried for 3 hours and got nothing..His car was perfect the minute it hit the dyno.....Every car is different...

Now I need to take it to the track to see what kind of times I can get with these 4.10s and more rwhp. I'd guess somewhere mid 13's @ 102 or so with a good 60'. I think I'll buy Steeda alum. upper / lower control arms to help with traction, as it sits now it likes to spin them a good bit.

Went outside to day to clean up the car / under the hood some and saw that the timing adjuster was set to 8* instead of 10*. Would that have affected the tuning? I thought I was sure that it was 10* when I reset it before the tune but maybe as I was tightening it into place it slid down a tick to 8*. I put it back to 10*
