I just got a new 2007 Mustang GT with a manual transmission. I'm not at all good with driving a manual. I am quite often guilty of slipping the clutch, I release the clutch really slowly when shifting, and I pump the clutch when in first or reversing. My question is what techniques should I use to shift better? And, how bad is it for my transmission?

Riding or slipping your clutch will cause premature clutch wear. The factory will not warranty a clutch and they will be expensive. My suggestion is to lightly slip your clutch when starting from a stop, then as you pick up momentum shift quick and clean between gears. No slip and do not ride the clutch pedal. Take your foot completely off the pedal. Even the slightest pedal pressure will cause wear. In time you will get the hang of it.
