Not all the time, but most of the time, my car acts like it's hitting the rev limiter around 3000-3500 RPM. It just bucks, kind of misfires and just won't go any further then 3k-3500, I'm forced to shift. I know it's not the tach being off because I have an aftermarket tach. I heard that it might be the EGR valve, I changed that, but it didn't help. Could it be the fuel filter? Anyone know what it could be? Thanks for any help.

Like he said, check all the wires and plugs. If all the plugs look clean, and none of the wires are cracked or burn to create arcing then try the fuel filter. Worth a try since they are so cheap. My bet is one of those 2.

I just changed the wires less then 8 months ago and I have no cats. Looks like I'll try the fuel filter. Is it hard to change? Thanks.

you're gonna need a special tool from autozone to get it detached from the hose though...

So you have never changed it? I would start there. It probably needs it even if thats not the problem.

No special tool, just pry the plastic clips out with a small screwdriver.

Does it matter how much fuel is in the car or should I wait until it's almost empty when changing it? Thanks.

the fuel system is only pressurized when the car is on, other wise the gas goes back to the tank, it doesn matter either way if the tanks empty or full, there may still be a little spillage but not a whole lot

Check your engine ground straps and fuel injection wiring harness ground. That wil cause you car to do crazy stuff like that.

Yeah I think that it did. I've taken it up way past 3k a couple times since I changed it and it doesn't do it anymore. Although knowing my luck, now that I've said it's fine, it will probably start acting up again the next time I do it.

Did I call it or what? Today, took it up to about 3500, same problem again. This is driving me nuts. I drive my car like a grandma most of the time and it runs fine, but I just want it to run right the few times that I am actually racing around.

How do I check my timing? I've never done it before. Also can someone give some more info on the eninge ground straps and fule injection wiring harness? I know I have a burnt valve, could that be effecting it? Thanks.

Does it just stop at 3500? or does it slowly rev with no power? (which is what mine is doing )
