Rev limiter like symptons at 3k?

my mustang has the same problem right after 3000rpms and still have not found an answer. I've replaced plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, roter, fuel filter and the problem is still there. I'm starting to think that it is my heads.

these problems could be a dirty MAF meter, bad ground etc etc,,,,,im havign problems liek this too,,,car feel like its hitting the rev limiter at any rpm then itll go away and drive fine for awhile then come back but it is persistent and usually does it everytime i take the car out for a ride

my 89 had the same problem, i would rev it up to about 3500 and it would act like it was at 7000. start choking and missing, i bought a new fireball coil from summit for like 30 bucks, now I can rev to 6000 no problem. Give it a try.

Does it just stop at 3500? or does it slowly rev with no power? (which is what mine is doing )

It just literally will not go past 3500 when it does it. It sounds like its missing and the needle will bounce back and forth between 3200 and 3500, but just will not go past 3500, I have to shift.

Can someone tell me how to check the engine ground, where it is, ect... Thanks.

the engine is grounded via the drivers side head to the firewall...there's a grounding strap running from the back of the head to the firewall...you'll see it. Injector harness should be grounded through the computer. Computer ground is the little black connector looking thing up by your battery. If the computer wasn't grounded, it wouldn't work at all, so I doubt that's it.

I had the same issue after I put a new Ford racing coil and accel TFI module on... put the old coil back on and it went away for about a week, now it randomly misses above 4 grand. So I'd try the coil and go from there, I'm thinking the Ford coil was defective and the old one I put back on is nearing its time... either that or my MAF is dirty...
