Was at an exhaust shop having my h-pipe welded together after the supplied clamp broke and we noticed that the driver side Flowmaster is actually reversed. They've been on the car for a few years now. Just wondering what kind of flow problems that the muffler being reversed would create.

Um, yeah...

The front of the muffler says "outlet".

That's why I posted this.

It's still loud. I have an o/r midpipe and the flowmasters are dumped, so yeah it's loud and droney.

But back to my question, with the exaust flowing through the muffler backwards, what problems are caused, in relation to power, sound, the muffler construction, anything. or should I just say screw it and leave it on there backwards. I haven't noticed it in 3 years, anyway.

Well, condidering the reversion plates are all running backwards, I'd say it's hurting your flow a little. Probably giving you great back pressure and off idle torque though.

If Im picturing the inside of them right, then the plates in it are "catching" the exhaust instead of them "cutting" through the exhaust. Os it is probably flowing less than it should, but not saying that its hurting.

Don't mind him....Mustangs are chic cars anyways. I'll bet $5 someone asks you to post a pic of yourself. Just find a pic of a hot chic posing with a mustang on the web and these guys will be ooogling you and asking for your phone #, email, myspace, facebook, etc. Gotta love fantasy women.

Anyways on the subject....If you have the two chambers I bet theres less flow restriction than with the 3 chambers. Its not gonna hurt anything cuz your h or x pipe will balance the pressure in each pipe...but yea at this point your getting the sound but not the performance of a "performance muffler". I would spend the 30-40 bux to have the shop reverse it personally.
