reverse lights not working...where to start?

Where would I start to diagnose this problem? The reverse lights do not work in my 04 GT. I replaced the blown fuse, but as soon as I slip it into reverse, the fuse blows again. I replaced the bulbs. I checked the number and fit of them several times, and had what I needed. Is there something electrical (wire, connector, switch) that I can check. Thanks in advance for the help.

There is a back up light switch connector on the transmission. I would see if the wires are grounded to something else to make your fuse blow. I hope this helps.

yeah I would start from there as well. Could be a bad switch too

a bad switch won't blow fuses. sounds like a short to ground which is a little harder to find (chaffed wire)



you'll need a wiring diagram (or someone with one) to get anywhere. is it still under warranty?

check the wiring harness that runs along side the tranny. You might have a damaged wire. Also it is unlikely for a switch to cause a fuse to blow but it is somewhat possible. those switches are known to go bad.

First check the harness near the tranny, then check the connector to the switch itself.
