I have used there solid Flat Tappets and they worked well. I have never had any of there Hydraulic roller stuff. I have never heard of any problems with them good luck on you H/C/I!!!
I had them in my Chebbie. They are good if you run a cam that is a little too big for good idle quality - they bleed down at low rpms and take some duration and lift out of the cam. Never used their rollers though - mine was in a flat tappet 383 engine.
or should i just stick with the stockers...my motor has 71xxx miles...ohh and im going with the comp xe274hr cam which has a .555/.565 lift, just for reference
IMO Rhodes lifters are a "bandaid" for to big of a cam,they will tame a rough idle and give more vacuum for power brakes tho. just pick the right cam for your combination and use lifters recomended by cam maker.
Probably no need for you since your MAF and you have mods to support the cam. It might be helpful for a speed density guy who wanted to push the limits on a cam.
Just curious, not only would this help with idle quality but wouldent it improve low end torque and stuff since the cam will be "milder". Also, it could help with emissions for guys running big cams and need to pass emissions since the cam would be "milder" at idle. Couldent this be considered a crude form of variable valve timing? how come these things arent very popular...i would think the would be kinda revolutionary...right? Gimme some feedback.
Yes you are correct. The 383 I had them in was a John Lingenfelter engine and he actually recommended them to me. Depending on the cam, it could reduce overlap at low rpms too. The one thing you need to know though is they sound like flat tappet solid lifters - not a bad sound but you will hear them at idle.
