You're not gonna hit 310 unless you're doing LT's, catless x, and UD pullies. Doubt you'll pass emissions.
Stock w/ $1,800, and passing emissions, I'd go 4.30's, tri-ax or other quality shifter w/ stops, underdrive pullies, and some MT DR's .

I would say 275 if you do not do long tubes. When I had a K&N FIPK, O/R h pipe, Magnaflow mufflers, 4.30's and all else stock, I made 273/263. Yes some cars are freaks as I have seen a 98 Cobra dyno 275 rwhp stock. However it takes Longtubes, o/r exhaust, UDP,s cai, S/R intake to hit 300+ rwhp.

I would go with 4.30's though over the 4.10's. The 4.10's will slow you down in the 1/4 verse the 4.30's being you have to shift right before the traps with 4.10's.

Definitly an informative thread...Now I have a question...I juts picked up a 97 with 22000 miles on her. Completely stock except for the wheels and a cat-back. I heard its a really good idea to put a shifter in the car to avoid bent shift forks, any suggestions?
This car wont be making any passes any time soon so would the 410's be a better choice for me?
I want to do either a prochamber or an X pipe anyone have experience with either or both?
Do you guys run synthetic or dino oil?

Any help for the newbee would be appreciated...

Larry

Short shifters really make the shifting alot nicer. The MGW IMO is the best shifter ever made! Nice positive shifts and 3rd is way easy to find If you are not planning on 1/4 racing I would suggest 3.73s, its what I have and they seem perfect for the street. Prochamber will give the best HP gain and has the best sound IMO, X-pipes make the car sound too raspy for my taste. H-pipe is a great part, nice deep tone without the raspiness the X-pipe gives. As for oil I run Valvoline Synthetic blend. The car seems to like it and its not as expensive as Mobile1. Besides in the Valvoline commercial they use a Laser Red Cobra so I HAD to use it

Any short shifter would work whether it be MGW, Pro 5.0 or Steeda.

I recommend 4.10's. They are a great street gear that will wake up that car, where 3.73's won't and the 4.10's won't dissapoint you.

sorry guys im still on the wire here too with 4.10s vs 4.30s... are you saying 4.10s are better than 4.30s in the 1/4..? being the 4.30 youd need to shift through the traps..?

Exact opposite. The 4.10's cause you to shift right before the traps. With 4.30's you will be in your powerband when you cross the traps.

You will be fine. When driving at 80 mph, the car will be turning 3,000 rpms which is nothing.
