Right side dash rattle.......

Has anyone experienced rattling (a sort of shuddering noise) on the right side of the dash when going over bumps and what was done to fix it? I took it to the dealer under warranty and they stuffed it here with foam and insulated it there with more material. It no work. Was the car engineered with not enough screws on that side or what? There are a couple other customers at my dealership with the same problem. The tech is contacting Ford over this and is leaving my RO (repair order?) open. Anyone know of any TSBs? Its a bit annoying.

I have it too. I solved it by wedging some foam near where the A-pillar meets the dash.

Mine does it occasionally. I press either on the dash or the glove box door and that stops it...untill I let go. I have done nothing to fix it. I did however have the rattle of the inserts behind the door handle which drove me nuts(they were much more constant). I fixed those by placing velcro on the backside of the panels. I now also have a rattle on the panel around the light switch. That didn't occur until AFTER the O/R H install

I have a rattle around my glovebox area also. It's like the door doesn't latch tight enough - if I remove everything from the glove box, it quits. But, if I put anything back in, even just the owner's manual, it starts to rattle. Any weigh the box seems to drop the door just enough off it's latch to cause the rattle. Or at least that's what I think I've traced it to.

I also have a rattle around my shifter boot .

I know its not a Jag or a Beemer of Benzie, but $35000 plus is a hefty bit of cash for a car so I'd like the dealer to get rid of the rattle. I suggested taking the dash apart and putting it back together but the tech said it might scratch the parts and make things worse; also no sense in doing it unless there's a new fix during the reassembly process. I'm waiting for some sort of feedback from the tech.

We have some pretty nasty roads out here. For all the taxes they're collecting, the city says they have no money and I feel the streets are rattling my car to pieces. I purposely kept 17" wheels to help soften the bumps.

Fords always have and will continue for the foreseeable future to have rattles. It's in their blood.

Having the techs completely take the car apart is a bad idea. It will most certainly end up with more than you started with.

As for roads I hear ya man. I live in SOCAL and our roads are worse than the ones I drove on in Michigan for 20 years! Where the hell is all my tax money going to??

For the lucky ones that live in Orange County (Disneyland) the highways and streets are a dream. But around here in LA and suburbs it's utter crap. I mean really, really, car destroying bad.

The county of Los Angeles will pay to repair damages to your car caused by road issues though. But only up to $5000 last I checked. A mile of paperwork too.

Anyway...just one of the two things that make Ford's rattle over the years. That and boom'n stereos. Damn car falls apart after 10 years of that.

Mine was under the A pillar cover. Sound transmitted sounded like it was coming from the dash. Took it to a local dealer. got lucky, no more rattle.

I had the same problem until I let my wife drive it and I was able to fart around with it from the passenger seat. I know it's hard to give up the reins to the pony but anyway....I pushed on the whole dash/glove box corner ( top and bottom and the same time) and it has not given so much as a peep.

Yeah, and now they are talking about charging a toll to let us drive on some of them.

I had that rattle and it came from the brackets near the air bag on the passenger side. The mechanic at my Ford dealer found nuts or bolts that were not tight and the rattle has not returned. This rattle started after about 2000 miles.

Took mine in and they put a couple of clips in by the pillars. no rattle since and that was over a year ago and I have 55000 km on her.

I usually just slam the dash forward by hitting it. Usually works for a few weeks.
