I'm swappin the WIDE 2.73's for some 4.10's and I can't get the ring gear off of the carrier. I've hit it as hard as I can with a dead blow hammer and this thing will not budge. Is there an easier way?
lol ya I took out all of the bolts. I thought it was supposed to come off easily with light hits from a dead blow hammer. I shouldnt have to get a sledge hammer to take off this damn ring gear.
It should come off relatively easy. Maybe the rear was in before and some kind of adhesive was used between the ring gear and the carrier?
Try to use some kind of prying method to see if you can GENTLY pry them apart or see what's up between them. There is no need to act like an animal when you do this. I've found that when acting like an animal on any part of a car, your knuckles will suffer the consequences.
