Well, it seems that the Maximum Motorsports 3-piece bushings for the LCA's are well past their limit. After talking to a tech there, he confirmed that the 3-piece bushing are for mild combo's only…and that replacing them with the same type would be futile. While he offered a trade/buy with a set that has spherical on both ends, I really can't swing it at this point in time….so I'm wondering if anyone sells replacement poly bushings (2 piece rather than 3) for only the LCA chassis side?

When I ordered mine, I asked the tech what the difference was. He said, if you do any aggressive driving (drag racing, auto-x, etc), the HD's will not last. So I went with the XD's.

With the power your making, I would try and save up for the swap/trade you mentioned. If you can't swing it, just replace the 3 pc bushing and drive it until you can upgrade.

What kind of deal did he offer?

How much do they sell 3 pc replacements for?

If I would have known how far I was going to go when I did my suspension upgrades….I would have went with the XD's! I really have no plans in the near future to switch the control arms. I have soooo many "needs" that are priority (new tires, upgraded ignition etc.) that I'll just have to make do with what I have. With that said, It's quite possible that the 3 piece bushings may only last a few track outings before they rip again…so getting the same ones is not my first choice (they are ~ $38 I believe). I really just want to throw in some standard poly 2 piece bushings (I know they have binding issues), but I don't know where you can buy just the set for the LCA chassis side.

Can you even replace them? I never see bushings up for sale for MM LCA's.

That is pathetic that they know they are selling a product that won't last. HD means heavy duty. But, they won't last for drag/road racing!!!??? :rlaugh:
That is :bs: All of their arms are 400+ and they don't last?

You can, they are listed for sale on their website.

I do agree that they are extremely misleading. When I originally did the suspension 4 or 5 years ago I don't recall them having any disclaimers or recommendations against using the HD arm's for drag racing. Come on guys…heavy duty control arms that can't be run down the track? Don't get me wrong, I'm still a believer of their products being of great quality…but honestly, why in the hell would you need an aftermarket control arm for mild street use and moderate horsepower levels only?

I really don't know why they even provide the HD's. The tech said they are strickly for on road use...no racing. I can't think of anyone who would want the benefit of aftermarket control arms and then not beat on the car.

But, that being said, the XD's are awesome. I've made around 40-50 passes since installing them. They are very consistent. 1.95 short times everytime on a lowered car with 17" street tires. I'd buy them again.

If I could only find some spherical bushings that I could press into the shell of the HD lower control arms (for cheap) !

I have the HPM Mega Bite Jr's on my Cobra and on my 81 notch with the 2001 axle and motor trans etc.....

I haven't driven the 81, but my 96 has pulled 1.888 60fts with Nittos launching at idle. I have them on the top bolt too, which is 85% more traction over stock. I'm interested in moving them to the bottom bolt which offers 135% more traction over stock.

Good Luck Millhouse!! I hope you solve your problem.

It was actually brought up to me to simply buy the replacement bushings and throw them up for sale....and then replace them with an alternative arm. How do the Mega Bites fair with driving around town, cornering etc.?

you cant blame MM for someone not ordering the right part, thier stuff is quality and thier customer service is great, when i ordered my lowers the salesmen asked me how much power i was making/planning on making and he advised me to go with solid bushings. and ive seen alot of heavy duty stuff that is marked with a big HD on it and its junk, its like they said in tommy boy "they know all they sold ya was a guaranteed piece of ****. That's all it is, isn't it? Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will. I got spare time."

there really isnt much middle ground if you wanna make power, there is always a sacrifice. you go with poly bushings and they are gonna break, and if you get solid bushings its gonna be hell on your tq boxes

The problem is, they are not the least bit heavy duty!!! Hell, I spoke with a tech today and he informed me he ripped them out on a stock 5.0l stang! Keep in mind too, I upgraded my suspension well before I upgraded my power....and from my understanding have changed their bushing design since then. I will say they gave me a great deal on replacement bushings, and their customer service has always been great. They did offer to do an exchange/credit for my current lowers...but I've decided to fix/sell them and switch over to some UPR's.

Millhouse, I agree. The HD's are not heavy duty at all. I'm surprised you weren't informed of this when you ordered them. When did you order them?

I think the XD's were created after they realized the weakness of the HD's.

Oh well, you will probably break even when it's all said and done. From following your posts, I know you drag race often. Let us know how the UPR's perform.

I purchased them ~5 years ago....and your right, I don't think the XD's were even around back then!

I'll throw an update once I get he UPR's in and to the track. I've got a feeling that he ripped bushings have been SEVERELY detrimental to my launching abilities (hence the horrible 1/4 times in sig).

The only reason I think that, is as soon as you tell MM you want the LCA's. You're hit with about 20 questions. How much HP, what do you plan to do with the car....etc. It feels like they do everything they can to steer you away from the HD's.

I bet you lost alot of lateral stability once the bushing went. Probably very inconsentent too. Should make a big difference.

The times in your sig, what tires?

Nitto Dr's...however I've never had that tough of a time hooking up with them. Then again, I've never had as much power as I have now. Early last year I had a friendly "skirmish" on those same tires and wooped up on a high horsepower AWD talon...and there is no way I can come close to launching like that anymore.
