I was under my car today putting on my new exhaust , which is disgustingly loud btw , and i noticed my torque boxes were starting to rip. The design to me looks pretty weak. Is there any kit or way to beef them up when i repair them?

Once you repair the damage done by the tearing of the metal, you can get a torque box reinforcement kit to strengthen them. I'm not sure whos sells them off hand, but I bet a search would find someone who's had this problem in the past, and may find some recommendations for a specific kit.

do not drive the car until your boxes are fixed correctly. If your taking the car to a shop, you should probably tow it.
A small tear on you tacked boxes will quickly turn into a nightmare and cost you some big $ if not fixed properly.
I got mine fully welded all around the seams and for now they have held up nicely with some delrin equipped lower control arms.
Remember, from the factory they are only tack welded into place.
Damn scary!!!

Just bought mine and found out the passengers side rear is torn and looks to have been that way for a long time. Previous owner drove it for a year. Here is a pic.

My passenger side upper ripped all the way off the car..luckily not while I was driving..I have another friends turbo mustang (has gone 8.30s) and he ran stock suspension with stock torque boxes until last year he ripped the uppers off going down the track..he came back around and the tires were resting against body of car...got lucky as well..I put wilde rides kit in my car and he is running wild rides adjustable replacement kit...I know UPR bolt in/weld in kit is pretty nice for street car and cheap too...
