Build Thread "Rising from Ashes" 94 Cobra build thread

^^^^^
Thanks, Really appreciate you tuning in.

The next step was getting the car mobile, to move it between garages. So I built a cart to set the frame on.

With the car outside I was able to really work the shell with the DA to get the metal good and clean.

Roof metal cleaned and sanded

Nice clean quarter ready to start working

Sorry, what is a "DA"? The answer is probably further down in the thread, but I'm too lazy to search for it.

Sure its a dual action sander. It can be your best friend when doing the body and prep work if you know how to use it. The prep sol is also key. I ll probably use gallons by the time this is done. Oh and you also need good primer and paint guns

Give it to me, give it to me now!

Kevin-

Why did you say No Newspaper when making the door? I've never done paint work so I'm just asking.

Newspaper allows the material to bleed through. I've re did other people's paint jobs where you can read the front page story on their windows,or it just leaves black smudges.

I saw some on Ebay not to long ago about but they were $200. If gas was not so expensive and I had more extra cash to throw around and less that I had planned for my Cobra Id consider it but that wont happen currently

Started working on the rear end. With my suspension set, I will not need quad shocks, and I hate thngs to just hang there with no purpose. So off they go.

Next I'm going to blast and powder coat the rear end followed by a rebuild with 31 splines axles and locker/ 4.10 or 4.30 gears.

I also did the same cut and chop with the power steering bracket. Since I wont be running A/C. No need for the bracket
Then blasted and powdercoated.

um, the quad shocks generally help minimize wheel hop though.

some people seem to be able to get away without them, others have seen a noticeable difference without them.

where do you live? i would hate not having AC where i live, in DC. for me, no AC would take away 4 months of being able to drive the car.

i can see how the powder coating can become addictive. that stuff is absolutely beautiful.

I'm using the MM HD torque arm setup in the rear of the car. The MM arm eliminates the upper control arms as well as the quad shocks because one of its purposes is eliminating wheels hop during hard acceleration.
My foxbody has a full Maximum motorsports suspension setup and I absolutely love it.

I just don't use A/C... never have and I drive my cars year round. This car will never be a daily driver anyway.

Here are pics of my old banners... At least I still have that much

Both the BF Goodrich banners I had in my old garage were given to me at shows, but that was 8-9 years ago. Since they don't make them anymore, they just go up in value. The BFG coupe banner I paid $40 bucks for.
