983 miles Jonesboro AR to Winfield KS and back, I only averaged 23 mpg.

Last trip of over 1000 miles from Va Beach to Memphis I averaged 29 mpg.

Why the loss of 6 mpg?

The first trip the car had about 3500 miles on her, this trip Im up to about 7,000 miles.

Im very disappointed with the V6s performance. Sometimes when I step on the gas from a stop, the car will lurch forward, hesitate, then accelerate. Its damn near got me T-boned a couple times. Accelerating from a stop to 65 mph it shifts hard sometimes.

I havent had any problems up until this trip. I guess I need to make a vist to the dealership.

That's a bit of surprise. I was chatting with some sales guys down at the dealership where I bought my GT and the guys were telling me the V6 actually performs better with the auto tranny than with a stick.

As for mileage, maybe it's just the way you drove (more aggresively this time?) or the actual number of highway vs. city miles on the two trips?

I don't know that side of the country as well, but going up long hills seems to kill my average.

In my GT to Laughlin and back (600 miles) I averaged exactly 25mpg at 75-80mph. This included long uphill and long downhill stretched, and passing some semi's at around 100.

The lurching could be your TCS. If the wheels break loose, the TCS cuts the power until you get traction...

I have also heard that some places have what they call winter fuel and mileage will go down.

Check the flux capacitor! Are you hitting 88 mph?

Mostly interstate 65-70 mph. No significant increase or decrease in elevation. Criuse on.

The only difference in teh car is teh addition of Gt bumpers and true dual exhaust, the exhaust should help not hurt mileage.

I was experiencing some of that hesitation and sluggish acceleration too. Especially in a left turn, from a dead stop.

But my car never had the TCS >>> (and frankly I'm glad I dont!)

I will say that since I've had a T-lok installed the problem has virtually disappeared.

Its been the best single performance option that I've added (so far)

Always check the air pressure in the tires, can make a pretty big difference on a long trip.

Ok, before I left home I made sure the tires had 35 psi, and the air filter is new, I replace it every 5000 miles.

I just dont see any reason for such poor mileage and Im not impressed with the overall performance on the road. Except for passing, from 55-65 mph it will get up and go when needed.

Get yourself an SCT X-cal 2 from a reputable dealer like Doug at Bamachips or Lideo at Alternative Auto... that will take care of the hesitation.

I'm going to guess winter fuel blends have something to do with it, but I don't know when you took your prior trip where your vehicle got a higher MPG.
