What is the best way to check that the rocker arms are tightened enough? Do I need to go through the series outlined in the manual and bleed the lifters and find TDC etc.? I have heard mention of just tightening the bolts. Is there a specific torque? I have a 90 lx, just replacing the valve cover gaskets and thought I would check it out to see if that affected some of the valve train noise that I seem to be hearing...

I dont think there is a simply torque that you just tighten the nuts to. first off, do you have roller rockers or the stock stamped rockers? Secondly the rockers can only be adjusted when the valve is completely closed on the compression stroke of that cylinder. The best method is outlined in a chilton manual, or search the forums, i know this process has been outlined in detail many times. Dont be afraid to tackle the valvetrain, its not that difficult. If you are comfortable with the procedure you can adjust all the valves in under an hour!

I'm sure this is probably a tricky question without knowing my cam "specs", but maybe somebody can help me:

I have a Competition camshaft and P&P E7 heads. I'm looking to keep the E7s, but I would like to upgrade my valvetrain with stiffer springs and roller rockers.

Is there a certain set of roller rockers I can use without knowing my exact cam lift/duration, or do I have to find out what type of cam is in there first?

I have ford racing pedestal mount on my e7`s with comp cam like 575 lift,with comp cam 986 springs, and I love them,a little noisy and you have to shim them but I rev to 7,000 with no problems.

Thanks for the response. They are aluminum roller rockers. I guess I'll go through the proceedure and get it done right!
