Has anybody tried one of these?

I just bought one, actually, but I haven't installed it yet. I was thinking of upgrading the sub that comes with it to something beefier.

I use this one in my 04 Vert. It says its only for coupe, but it fit fine in my vert. It provides ample bass for my taste. Plus it matches the trunk and allows spare tire access. I was able to get mine cheaper than what that seller is charging because the one I got had no woofer. I added a better woofer.

Depends on if you are looking for cheap and ok, or a really good setup. Most custom boxes are made for the subs specs such as air volume. Different subs require differnt air space.

I have mine sitting in my spare tire well, and the sound is great...but that is what you get with a custom box for a JL.

That's a good point-- the upgraded sub I'm looking at requires about the same space.
