rod bearings, need specs,advice

I have a knock in # 3. Not related to cam, plugs, ehaust gasket, etc. Pulled my pan and found significant wear on my rod bearings. They are maked .010.
Bought new ones. Put them in after plastic guage at .005. Now crank is hard to turn. ( very) I check all that I took out and they were all .010. All put in the same. Any advice? Is trhe .005 on the plastic guage OK? can not find specs on that.

Go back and check to make sure you don't have the rods backwards. They only fit one way, there's a chamfered side that fits against the crank journal fillet, the other ( flat) side faces the rod next to it. Rod bearing clearance should be about half what you posted ( .002-.003)

Only the rod caps have been removed. Is there a particular way that they should be put back? Does the chamfer extend to the caps? They were not marked. The last time the bottom was worked on it was done by an engine rebuilding service. Since that time much has been re-done. I appreciate your help.

There is a slot cut into both the rod and cap that the bearing tab fits into to keep it from spinning, these slots face one another.The chamfered side is also present on the cap. On unaltered rods, there is a number stamped in to both the rod and cap, designating the cylinder it was assigned to, these numbers also go on the same side, and should be the same number on each set.(#4 rod mates with #4 cap and so on...)
