I want to put a 4 or 6 point roll bar in my 99 convertible. I haven't seen many available. I found one from Autopower (the street-sport) that I liked, but wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions.

I plan to purchase the Steeda 4-point roll bar designed for convertibles. I've checked out several 6-point roll bars and they all make the rear seat inaccessible.

I like the Steeda bar, but don't think it would work for a harness. What do you think of this one? (the street-sport with removable harness bar)
http://www.maximummotorsports.com/autopower.asp

It's about the same price, and it does not look like it would make the rear seat inaccessible.

You wont be disappointed with a nice 4-point. I use a 4point for autox'ing and it really does tie alot of things together. Install in your convert. should make it quite easy seeing as how there is no roof to deal with clearances.

If you like, you can order your Autopower cage through http://www.ioportracing.com and you can have it custom done. By custom, i mean you can tell them to just use a BOLT IN harness bar and a BOLT IN diagonal bar. By doing that, you can remove those two pieces and make the back seat accesible.

For me, the back seat is useless, and makes a better crap storage area than a seat for people. I use a rear seat delete, therefore, all bars on mine are welded.

And as a side note, the Autopower bar fits like it was a factory option. Also, if you are "showy" kind of person, you may want to order your bar UNPAINTED. The packaging of the bar is sub-par by any standard, seeing as how it is only painted for anti-rusting reasons. Dont get me wrong....it doesnt look like it fell outta a truck on the interstate, but for 50+$ for truck freight, youd think they'd(Autopower)would use 10lbs of bubble wrap, but no. I was content with mine, i used some black touch up paint and concealed most problem areas....im not that picky.

That looks awesome, roadracer!

Thanks alot for the info, and the link to buy it! I'm sold.

How difficult is the installation, and what else is required for it? Did you do your yourself? It really does look stock!

Installation is quite easy, you just take your plastic panels out, set the bar in, mark/tap the holes and drill. Bar comes with all necessary backing plates and good grade nut/bolt hardware(nylock nuts). However, being as i have a COUPE, getting the bar in there while retaining your stock side panels is feat i wish upon NO MAN. Luckily the girlfriend with her "tiny" hands crawled back there like a trooper and help me bend/push/cuss/mash the whole assymbly into place. Your covert. should be cake.
