Hi gang, I am hopefully back to the lovely craze we call Stangin'. I had let my baby sit for the 3 plus years while I completed law school. She wasn't exactly in the same condition as I left her. Surprisingly, there is minimal rust. The paint job still shines after a good wash. Not bad for a 12 yr. old paint job. It will be a little while before I feel she is road worthy again. Among other things, the rug has suffered enough and will need to be removed.

I have made the decision of making my ride suitable for Open Track events. I was thinking since there was no longer going to be a carpet, I would continue making the car as safe as possible, while keeping it light (on the scales, not in my wallet).

Has anyone bought the 6 or 8 point roll cages that come pre-bent and partially notched? (Sold thru Jegs, S&W Race Cars, etc). A custom made cage can run upwards of $2000. Not in my price range (students loans are killing me). I was wondering if anyone has installed one of these and found them to be a good starting point for a solid 'racing' frame.

Thanks in advance! It's great to be back! :SNSign:

I used a Comp Engineering kit for my 67 FB when I opentracked it. Welded up the 4-point, and it was only ~ $199.00, IIRC.

There are avail from any Summit, JEgs, etc catalog. Its a good route to take for OT.
