Roller rockers fit under stock valve covers?

Ok so the bottom end of my engine is done now all I need is roller rockers and I'm getting the new BBK intake and I was wondering if you guyz know if say I get taller valve covers in case the roller rockers don't fit under stock valve covers, will the new bbk intake still clear b the throttle body? cuz they don't make a spacer for it yet. Sorry if this is a dumb question but I just want to be sure. by the way I need 1.6 rockers, and if you have a suggestion for what rockers to get, so post away thanks alot fellow stangers. (if you know of 1.6 rockers fitting under stock valve covers that would be great)

I don't run them (yet) but I think that most people on here can get away with running a 1.6 RR under the stock valve covers. Sometimes they claim they need thicker gaskets or some require grinding of the oil baffle.

For a recomendation, I'd buy the FRPP ones but only because I like stock parts or parts from the OEM. Plus, the FRPP RR are manufactured or designed by Crane.

I run a TFS1 cam with 1.7's and don't have any problems.

I had to grind down the oil baffle ( don't know if thats the correct naming) right under where you fill in the oil in the valve cover, a square shape is under there, grinded it down a little. The other valve cover is ok. I've heard of others that don't have to do this, I run 1.6 FMS RR's

I used the comp cam magnum roller rockers. Like 150 bucks through summit. I took off the metal baffle screen on my 87 and had no issues. Also, I was running a e303 cam with it.

I am running Scorpion 1.6 pedestal mount roller rockers. I ground down the baffle on the pass. side and ground down some of the ribs inside the stock covers to make em clear. Not hard since it is just aluminum. Just got a carbide style bit and a little die grinder for my compressor and voila they fit like a champ.

I know my stud mount Comp Cam Pro Magnums (1.6) wouldn't have fit under mine.....but my 85 covers might be a little shorter than the EFI ones.

yeah i even had 1.7 comp cam rrs on my 88 with a bigger cam, and took out the baffle and had no clearance problems.

Ford changed the valve cover casting - the early covers probably need the oil baffle removed and the corner gussets ground down to clear - I had to do that for my Scorpion 1.6 rockers in my 88.

you should be able to remove the baffle on the inside of the valve cover and avoid any clearance issues. You can run 1.7's under stock valve covers if you remove the baffle.

If you want to double check and be absolutely sure, clay the inside of your valve cover, turn the engine, and see if there is any indentations.

I run stock 89 valve covers, fms 1.72 rockers, and stock cam with no clearance issues. I did NOT remove or modify the oil baffle but I doubled up on the valve cover gaskets.

OK so one more question guyz, I need 1.6 rockers and I have aluminum gt-40 heads (turbo swirl) and which rockers are a good bang for the buck, this guy was telling me I gotta get these crane gold race roller rockers or something and there like 350$ so I don't want to spend that much unless I have to so whats good average brand name that'll work? thanks

The FRPP 1.6 RR's can be had for less than $260. Shop around.

Crane 1.7 pedestal mount roller rockers. Absolutely no chance of fitting under stock covers. None. All the grinding in the world and double gaskets still left me with multiple contact points.

Just have tall covers in mind when you do the swap.

same think I find with a inline head, getting them to clear on a TFS head is another story.

Just remember if you go with a tall cover you will need a spacer to get the intake to clear.

The COMP Polymers valve covers will clear a aftermarket rocker and still fit under near all the EFI manifolds with no issues.
