roller rockers

i want to get a set of 1.7rr's for my new cobra intake and i dont know which ones to get. i have stock heads and cam and i just dont want to end up buying the wrong ones. can someone gimme a site on where to get them and the extact part#? on summit i found CRN-44746-16 but dont know if i fall under that one. ANY help would be appreciated.

are you wanting to get pedestal mount rockers, or are you wanting stud mount? when you say you don't want to get the wrong ones, exactly what do you mean? j/w

i want to get stud mounted ones and what i mean by getting the wrong ones is that i dont want to end up buying something that wont fit my car. i decided to come here and ask before i made the mistake of getting the wrong ones. i heard that most of the rr's wont clear the stock valve covers. if i get taller ones will they interfere with the cobra intake im getting? j/w

Just to let you know, the roller rockers have nothing to do with your cobra intake at all. I am not sure what you mean by, "i want to get a set of 1.7rr's for my new cobra intake." The stock valve covers will work, all you might have to do is remove the oil baffle on the passenger side. My friend ground down the metal inside to ensure no problems. As for the stock heads, they are pedestal mount, so I would stick with that. The part number you gave are the ones you want to get. They are not stud mounted, it says in the description that they are pedestal mount, only it lists the diameter of the "stud" or bolt it has. Those are the ones you want for your stock heads.

what i meant by 1.7's for my cobra intake was that i might as well switch them while im switching the intakes. so that part # on summit are the ones i want? i thought if i removed the baffles you can get oil in your intake through the breather hose?

I have heard people question that, but have never seen that happen before. I helped my friend install them on his car, and when you would open up the oil fill cap, you could see the rockers moving, but no oil was spraying up into the tube. I am not sure how much more oil pressure there is in the valve covers at higher rpm, but I doubt you will have a problem.

Yes that part number is correct for your application.

No, the rockers get covered with oil anyway. They need to be lubricated because they are moving while the engine is running. The baffle is just there to prevent a possible occurance of oil going up the oil fill tube.

edit: If you want to get taller valve covers you can, but there is no need for it with the stock valve covers.

how hard is the baffle to get out? is it just a few bolts or is the sucker welded in there?

Mine had rivets that I just ground out...no biggie.

Crane made the 1.7 rockers that Ford put in the 93 Cobra, they are nice, so are SVO 1.72s(to get a bit more lift). You will probably want to go ahead and get a shim kit in order to adjust them once you get them on.

i need to get a shim kit? how hard is it to install roller rockers? thought it was basically a direct swap?
