my 00 gt is knocking like crazy,so a friend of mine from a ford dealer gave me a motor from a f150. it was pulled due to carbon build up on the pistons and the owner went the cheaper route and got a junkyard motor rather paying the dealer labor rates for the original motor.Anyway all i have to do is clean the top of the pistons and put the heads back on to have a good motor.so he says.u can see where the valves hit the carbon lightly. OK my question is, can i use the comp cams from my windsor motor in this romeo?? whats the difference in the 2 motors other than the intakes? i also got another complete motor out of a crown vic that was said to be locked up,would it be worth it to tear down to maybe fix back as a spare? what will inner change between the windsors and romeos.....thanks alot guys

Yes, some trucks had a Romeo.

Yes, you CAN use Windsor heads on a Romeo, and vice versa. As stated already, you'll need to change valve covers to match. Also, the studs/bolts that hold the timing cover to the head are bigger on a windsor, no biggie, just pick the right ones up from the dealership.

The dipstick tube bolts to a valve cover bolt on a Romeo and to the side of the head on a windsor, so you'll need the appropriate dipstick tube. FYI the Ford Racing headswap kit comes with a ROMEO tube.

As stated, timing gears are pressed on a windsor, as opposed to bolted on a Romeo. You'll also notice that the cam caps on a Windsor head are individual and the Romeo caps are all one cast piece. You can run either cam in either head.

My main concern might be the block, I know that some F150's had an oil cooler and it could affect the engine mount location or something, might check up on that, not sure there.
