Roots type blower on a small block?

Even with the recent (within the last ten years) popularity if the 351W, the aftermarket has ignored this engine in intake offerings, for anything other than the single four. No 3x2's, 2x4's,Tunnel rams or blower intakes. Of course you could always use port plates to adapt a 289/302 intake here, but that's not my choice in doing this.

My brother had a Dyer's blower on a SBC a few years ago, and I think it's pretty typical of what all street blower shops do. They mill the top off an aluminum intake, then attach a plate to the intake for the blower to bolt to. His blower motor ran about 8.1 compression and a pair of 600 vac secondary Holleys and it was an outstanding street motor. It fired right up, idled nicely (with a 268H Comp Cams stick), had strong low and mid-range and actually got 12-14 mpg if you just cruised. Plus, the visual impact was second to none. My next project will be a '66-'67 Fairlane with an FE motor and a 6-71 poking through the hood. If it has a hood at all!

Dang, that BDS intake is really expensive. Aren't there plates out there to adapt other small block intakes to the 351w? It seems to me like it may be far more inexpensive to go that route than spend over $1000 on a specially made blower intake. You could also go with a non-roots type blower, I can't think of what they are called but one of those that mounts like an accessory to the motor and then just install a blow through carb on an aftermarket intake.

I want to thank all of you for responding. BDS seems the way to go.
I only show the car now, use to bracket race it in Nevada, but NHRA in CA is to restrictive.
Just want the blower for show BLING!
