Rotary Vane style fuel pumps - mounting location

The diaphram style electric fuel pumps (like the Holley Red) for carbureted applications are very noisy and Holley requires that they be mounted (ideally) below the fuel source, or as low as possible. Holley also recommends mounting them very close to the fuel tank. They do a decent job of pushing fuel, but don't pull it very well apparently.

I did some research and found that the rotary vane style pumps are significantly quieter. I ordered up a Carter P4389 and it just arrived. I tested it out quickly before installing it, and the pump is very quiet. I am pleased. But I started thinking that maybe it could be mounted in a different place as well.

I can't see anywhere in the directions where they tell you to mount it at the tank or below the tank. Do these little guys "pull" better than the diaphram style pumps? Could it be mounted under the hood? Or somewhere else between the motor and the tank?

if the fuel is ever under suction, vapor lock can occur and pumps are made to "compress fluid", not draw a suction. I would mount it as close to the tank but lower if possible. you can mount it on the frame close to the sending unit, by the rear seat area
