Just like the title says, my idle shackes the hole car bad. and then when i step on the gas my flowmasters making a bubbly kinda sound. like not smooth, like when you push the flows really high and you hear a crackling when they are coming down kinda sound but when you step on the gas. This started after i drove through some water. My flowmasters have turndowns so i was thinking maybe some water got in them, but when i went to take em off to tip em over to see if anything comes out. the ppl who out my turndowns on put a small spot weld on the bolt holding the bracket of soo i can't get my flows off the see if their is water in them. WHat should i do??

The water in your mufflers should have blown out when you started the car. I am thinking that maybe you have an o2 sensor unplugged or something. Are you getting any check engine codes?

No i don't have the cel light. Um the exhaust only really makes the noise at start up, when i first get on the gas only in gear. and then after about 2500 and still on the gas. and this is the first problem i have had with the car.

ohh and btw the sound of the exhuast wouldn't really bother me all the much, but when they do make the sound, it also has bad power, and it feels like it kinda surges like its strong for a second then the exhuast pops, and i lose power for a second the exhaust pops, and it runs strong again. really annoying when you are drivin, even just cruising

Sounds like you have a wet COP or plug. Check the plug wells and dry them out just in case...

If you have plug wires check and make sure the boots are dry and clean...

Streetstang03,
Yahoo! Is there something wrong with checking plugs and o2 sensors before throwing money and new parts on the car? What makes you so sure you have all the right answers?

OK, so i just went out and started my car, drive her down the block, and nothing. Running like normal. So what could cause this? no raugh idle, or bubbly exhaust note, ran smooth.

IAC! it doesnt do it everytime, but you'll either need to replace it ($40 at autozone) or clean it using some carb cleaner.

Or if you have an aftermarket CAI, sometimes the hose clamp comes loose under engine torque, causing the incoming air to make your car idle from 600-1000rpm.

my car did the same thing, its the plug connectors at the coils if you have the dual coil packs. i took them off and there was corrosion, so i cleaned them and sprayed wd-40 (repels water and prevents corrosion) in them. and ran fine ever since

This bored swear by the IAC fix.. but I agree with the others too. before you go about buying new parts, check the simple things first. Plugs could be corroded, easy check.

But do check the IAC, at least clean it and see what happens. Carb cleaner like mentioned above.

First off, dont go out and wast money on a crappy IAC from autozone....clean your OEM one if anything with break cleaner or carb cleaner.

Second, its NOT his IAC doing this...that only controls the idle/maybe very light throttle. Your probably got a connection wet and thats what was causing it...now that it dried out you should be fine. If it comes back, then do some routine maintenance....change plugs, change fuel filter, clean MAF, ect. Oh and ofcourse we cant leave out "clean your IAC" LOL.

I agree with hotmustang. Cleaning the IAC will take 10 minutes to do, and if the problem goes away, you know you can replace it with a new one.

Another thing I just thought of is if you have a busted cat, it could be clogging things making it idle funky, and sound weird. That could be intermittent also. Do you have cats? if so.. check them.

yeah stock h, and how would i check the cats, i really don't have the time to pull em if thats how. and the problem has gone away. this is the second time its done this, the last time was after heavy rain and driving home again. DANG my luck and water. because the only way home from where i was is through a big ditch that fills fast, or a very muddy road.

i really doubt it's the IAC, by the way you describe it i think you should pull the boots and see if there's any moisture in there

Have you tried cleaning your mass air sensor? This one little part can reek mass havoc and almost everyone overlooks it.
