Story: Went to Ford dealer last weekend to check out remaining 06 stock and saw some snazzy stangs in the distance so I say...

"Are those Saleens you have over there?"

salesman, "Oh no way man, we only carry Roush! Saleen is just a bunch of body kits with no balls"

So later (when he's done pestering me) I walk over to the Roush cars. Yea. $40k MSRP for BODY KIT AND WHEELS! The stage 1 is a flippin joke.

When someone puts "427R" on a Mustang, that should mean 427 cubic inches of engine are under the hood -- just my opinion. Oh well, the LSx crowd will certainly like saying, "I raced this stuck-on-body-kit Mustang with a 427 and beat it."

I would punch THAT guy in the balls. What a retard. Both companies throw on body kits with double sided sticky tape and sell it for ten grand over stock. Now, everyone knows what I prefer in the area of SuperChargers (and the Saleen just looks better anyway).

Price? "Hey, I know my car has '427' stickers on it, but do you know how much it would cost for me to actually have one that beats your car, Mr./Mrs. F-Body, Mopar, etc. person?"

This is not the argument I want to make after driving around in a high-profile (not to mention pricey-for-a-Mustang) ride.

The "nice try" part of your post is what I would say to someone driving this car.

My point was that taking a factory mustang and adding a blower is probably cheaper than a low end 427. In order to make more than 427HP, the pricetag would be quite a bit higher. I completely agree with you. I'd rather see it with a fully built 427. That'd be sick. But not feesable at that price. Not retail, anyway.

Side strip isn't too nice, but 427hp is. Given that the S3 Roush handles better and is nigh as fast as the GT500, I don't think too many people would be handing you your a$$ in that car.

And then, again, it could also mean that a few Corvette, F-Body, GTO, SRT8 and maybe even a couple of early Viper owners would actually think you had a hot 427cid engine in the Mustang and they'd be too worried to even try and (street)race...

...not counting Doc's GTO.
