for all those wondering what fluids to use.

i just changed the rear end, tranny and motor with Royal Purple, and i must say, out of every bolt on i have, this simple mod(if you will) made the BIGGEST seat of the pants difference. its like i was driving a new car again, it felt like the first time i took her for a test drive, like i had gained some power back from years of crap fluid changes by previous owner.

used the Synchrotech or whatever(the manual transmission formula, not the ATF Formula) for the tranny. used 85w140 for the rear end(it was either that, or 75w90). used 5w30 for the motor.

my rear end under-2-mph moan is still present, but after getting up to normal operating temps, burnouts, lots of WOT runs(loving the new feel), it made a slight whine at takeoff, nothing like the immense moan it had a day ago at the track(you should hear the vid of me staging, the car moaned like i was trying to move her with all 4 locked up). hopefully this will either wear into the rear end and maybe even get rid of the moan after a few miles, or save me some time while i gather funds for a 31 spline eaton built rear.

now to the tranny. it now shifts like a Tremec 3650 SHOULDNT. its purely efforless and notchless. i feel almost desensitized from it, but thankfully the sound of the shifter hitting the bumpstops with a clank lets me know im there. but dam, its effortless. from 2nd to 3rd shifts, i merely have to feather my arm forward, and its like an act of devine inspiration moves it the rest of the way. i changed the fluid because on the way to the track, my tranny chatter came back(or maybe i just noticed it again), since it was gone after my last fluid change, so figured what the hell. now the chatter is gone, and driving is silencio from el drivetraino.

i am a believer in this stuff now. i used to think "eh, oil is oil" but not no more. on a hunch to alleviate my problems, i have seen the light.

Wow thats crazy that a certain brand of oil is that top notch... Maybe it can cure cancer or world wide hunger also, lol.

Maybe I should put some RP in my rear and see if that helps my whine.

I put Mobil-1 ATF in the tranny, do you think itd be worth stepping up to RP for the next change? The damn Mobil-1 was expensive enough though...

I don't know what kind of 'whine' you're referring to but I'd see a doctor instead.

With RP 75w90 for the rear end... do you need to add friction modifier too it?

what's the difference between the Synchromax and the Max ATF? Which one should I use for the T-3650? Also, when filling the tranny, are you guys measuring out 3.25 quarts before you fill it or are you filling it to the bottom of the fill hole?

they sell 75W140, which is whats we're supposed to use on our 8.8 rear. RP makes it, it's just a lil harder to find. i bought mine from Jegs

ATF=automatic transmission fluid. its made for autos, but 'can' be used in manny's. i used the Syncromax b/c RP advertises it as a better fluid for standards. as for how much fluid, there were several threads written about that. some say fill until fluid runs out of the fill hole, others say 3 quarts exactly, and others say, 2.85 exactly. i let mine fill to the hole. runs fine

i believe all RP comes with some sort of friction modifier already formulated in.

I couldnt even feel the fluid level with my finger (in the transmission)..I put in around 3.5 bottles (all 4, but with spilage and whats left in the bottom...I called it 3.5 bottles). With the T 45 I think you can fill until it runs out...but with the 3650 it wont shift as well as if you put 3.5 bottles in. Although I think you can still do it....

The only time I ever felt actual SOTP power gains was when I had my '93 GT and I added combos of mods together at one time. Edelbrock Intake, 70mm T.B., and headers, or when I had Edelbrock aluminum heads put on. All this piss ant crap with 5HP gains, I have no idea how you can feel that.

yeah it says 5w20 in the chiltons/haynes, but 5w30 or 10w30 is gonna work just fine.

and to previous posters. i did all the mods in my sig at the same time(intake, tb/plenum, diablo tuner, UDP) and didnt feel much of anything, rather much of a let down really.
