RPM question

Lots of different camps here on this one. Some "short shift" for better milage meaning the shift the car early as the RPM's climb. Early as in 1500-2000 RPM's.. saves a bit a gas but you don't get the full benefit of the horsepower that way.
Other's shift in the 2500-3500 range which is where the old type cars usually shifted. It yields good acceration, ok gas milage and some fun
Other will always "wind it out" and shift above 4000 RPM... this I find gives good power but does suck more gas.
With some cars above a certain point you really are not making anymore horsepower but just running up the RPM's and using gas... this is also very gear dependant too.....
I would suggest you practice all of the techniques so you can choose the one that best fits your need at that moment.

Understand what you are saying. Listening to the sound of the engine is both intoxicating and good practice to understand where you engine is at.
All of the above is assuming of course you are not in traffic and on a straight & level road.
I would suggest you play around with the different styles and gears. Try a second gear start. Try things like once you are just rolling, putting the car in third and see how it lugs or pulls. Same thing on the top end. Watch your RPM's vs MPH as you go up through the RPM's. Are you making more PRM's but not really going faster??? Then maybe you should shift..
A very big part of this on the 05's is also throttle depenant..... meaning that our cars react differently at 1/5th thottle then at WOT(wide open throttle). So again this is a matter of time and experience before you can know how your car is going to react.
One of the benfits of the Jet Performance Module is how the car performs at anything more then 25% throttle... just love that feeling of being pushed back in the seat as the car moves out .
Take it slow and test it out but most of all have fun !!!!

Some good thoughts above...having owned several sticks over the years, I have to learn each car over as to what feels right. In my '05 GT normally around neighborhood and town 2000-3000 (depending on traffic and speed limit), onto the highway around 3000-3500 and onto the interstate around 4000-5500 (depending on the need to get on or merge). These are usually the first three gears and maybe into 4th. Once you have driven the car for a few months, you will find where you are most comfortable shifting. Each driving situation will determine the power band you need to be in at a given point. Just try to be smooth and not pop the clutch. Let off a little right before you shift. This will make for a smoother transition to the next gear. Works for me....
