rpms skipping under WOT...help

ok guys, i was driving my car today and decided to open it up, it got up to about 4000 rpm and then skipped back down to 3500 and then kept going up, got to five and skipped back down to 4500 then went back up. what could cause this?? i know my clutch is about to go and im getting one when i get back from my trip, does anyone have any idea?

I would check your plug wires. You might have a couple which are arcing/shorting at high rpms. Seriously, sometimes just rerouting them/sheathing them a little bit makes a difference.

what should i check the spark plugs for? im kinda lost on this one

Yea the clutch could definetaly cause this. One question though: Were you looking at the stock tach and seeing the RPMs jump? Or did you feel it as well?

both actually, it was more apparent on the tach, but i could feel the car hesitate alittle bit
