I think it helps keep the vibration down. I changed my muffler I think I didn't have one on my 07, I don't remember. All I know is i had to transfer over somekind of bracket with a rubber piece but it wasn't a cylinder looking piece

I switched over to a gt muffler and the v-6 had a 4 inch long 3 inch around rubber cylinder mounted on the end and the gt didn't, i couldn't see any purpose for it so i left off, haven't noticed any noise or vibration. My brackets matched up perfect didn't have to change anything

Uh huh... Gotcha - You know I have no idea. I remember thinking the same thing when I put on the Mac SS Axelback. Never had a rattle with it either.

Who knows.

Ahhhh okay. Thanks Cat. So it reduces the noise, vibration and harshness of the stock muffler where other muffler designs compensate for this. Even the stock GT muffler then. Is that right?

prolly more like the others dont compensate for it, its aftermarket and supposed to make more noise. its most likely something specific to the V6 drivetrain, and thats why its not on the GT. kind of like those new resonators (or what ever it was) that were on your stock replacement V6 muffler you had warrantied.

LOL - Gotcha' Or like the muffler design that had to separate part number for the coupe and the vert until the mid-05 production year. Ahhhh, yes, all things are progressive.

Thanks for the clarification, as I certainly do not know everything.

there's an additional rubber vibration dampener further upstream on the exhaust system.
