So admittedly i'm no audio guru, nor do i know if i'd be aware if the sound from the stereo was great or not.
In my younger days we just used to just run random audio parts, though i was partial to rockford (no idea why) or powered tubes.
In my old Saleen Explorer the guy before me installed a high end setup that was about 500% beyond my needs. So i did nothing to that setup.
When i rebuilt my doors and door panels recently i added these speakers:
I also dynomatted as much is i could inside the door near the speaker (saw that on youtube).
The backs already have Rockford 5x7's. that i didn't plan on messing with.
I have a 10inch rockford subwoofer to go in the hatch that sorta looks like it's pick up truck style. I was planning on just velcroing it down.
My head unit is a blaupunkt DAB retro unit (that i'm not changing and i love how it looks, though it's complicated to work)

Old setup was the same stereo, old sony speakers in the door and stock speakers in the dash.
Did the splitting of the front door and dash waste power the way it was setup from the factory?
I've not run the new front speakers off the head unit yet. I'd rather just hook this stuff up once, though i already ran an rca that has 6 cables at each end to the hatch with a power wire.
My plan was to buy a rockford 750x5 5 channel amp and power the whole thing. (all front speaker wires have been heatshrunk closed in place)
Now i'm wondering if i could just buy the same amp single channel with like 250w and save quite a bit of money. The single channel ones can be had dirt cheap, the larger 750 can be found new on ebay for $200-$300
I don't mind spending money if i feel like i get my money's worth, but i have no idea how much positive affect it will have amplifying the front door speakers.
Without a subwoofer the previous setup produced pretty much no bass that you could hear with the car running.
Seemed to sound ok, but i felt like it was just all highs.
I'm sure there are other amps, but i just like my stuff to match, for better or worse.
Thoughts?
