Hey guys need some help the cobra is running like crap and i cant figure out why wont pull fully like it has probelms i mean it pulls but not as hard as it should for the mods ColdAir,4.10,full exhaust headers =L bbk/Dr. Gas X-pipe/FlowM dumps, 70mm TB, 76mm MAF, And pro5.0 shifter. The timing is stock still i think never messed with it. so i think that might be it also have not put new plugs and wires in it for a yr or so not sure about that. it wont even run probly a 9.5 in the 1/8th right now i have no clue whats going on with it. ideas plz guys.

Thanks Brien

Brien, you are not giving folks a lot to go on.

Have you pulled the codes (the CEL does not need to be on to store codes)?

Good luck.

how do i do that... i really have no clue what to do that why ii am open to ideas what u mean pull the codes and CEL????

Hit up Fleabay and look for a OBD1 scanner...Ford specific ones are 25.00 or less....Look behind the shock tower on the pass side and youll see a plastic cover with "Test" written on it...plug it in to that harness and read away...
I would buy a scanner the spits out the actual code versus the beeping/light kind...just makes things easier...

Here you go...tad more the the numerical read-out type..

I think that is the same one you can get at walmart for 20bux. It is easier to use that then read the flashing though.

could it be the mass air??? As i said i have one i just dont have it installed its never been cleaned and the car has around 93k on it. u say do those computer test and stuff... i am not sure how to use one and where can i buy one at walmart never seen one. And what is OBD1

It sounds like you could use a repair manual from the parts store. It will be useful for providing ancillary info that people on here dont feel like typing out, as well as pics and torque specs.

Cleaning the MAF element is a good idea, but you have to be careful.

A repair manual can tell you how to retrieve trouble codes with or without a code reader. Some parts stores do it for free.

OBD-I = On Board Diagnostics, version one. It is less stringent than OBD-II. The data link connectors for OBD-I and II are not compatible so get an OBD-I code reader (your car has both OBD-I and II data terminals).

A search can reveal info really fast if you need answers ASAP. Good luck.
