Running Boost on a 93 motor? Hypereutectic piston question.

I just read that the 1993 HO motors have hyperuetectic pistons. Unfortunately I found this out after ordering my turbo. To my knowledge boost and these pistons equals catastrophic failure. I hope I'm wrong because I'm planning on beefing up the suspension and tranny before building my new motor. As far as the turbo, I was hoping to get some experience with it so I know whats up before going to a high power set-up. Any experience or knowledge in this area would be greatly appreciated.

It all depends on the amount of boost that you are going to run and your tuning. I have a 2003 Mazda also which is turbocharged and it does not have forged internals. It came that way from the factory. As long as you keep under 10 psi or so, you should be okay.

Keep the tune conservative and don't go overboard on the boost and you will be fine. Detonation is what kills hyper pistons and as long as you don't run the tune right on the ragged end of detonation you should be fine.

Cool, I'm only planning 5-6 lbs right now. I just want to get more experience before I invest my hard earned money into something that becomes shrapnal.

hyper pistons are a good piston. they do hold up to a good amount of power. like the others say tune in conservative make sure you don't go lean on afr.

I feel a bit better about it all. Hopefully I'll get familiar with the turbo and be able to build the new motor shortly after.

Properly tuned, those hyper pistons will handle considerably more power than the stock 302 block will.

Been running 5 psi since 1997 on my motor. Stock bottom end motor.

Is RPM range a consideration with hyper pistons? I have a fresh 306 with speed pro hyper pistons and I am trying to decide between using it and a stock forged bottom end on my new combo but I plan to spin it to around 6500. Will the hyper pistons live with that? Its N/A so RPM is my only worry.
