If you plan on driving that thing on the street with a spool, I hope you know what you are getting into. as far as beating the Z car, you are gonna need some tires too before you try anything with him, and if you dont get him out of the hole, you are going to have a hard time catching him but he obviously cant drive very well, so game on!! Go get your kill!! just be safe. as for mid 7s in the 1/8...dont think so. I would give you around a 8.1 to 8.30ish with a good 60'

Unless you plan on track only.A spool SUCKS on the street..It causes a lot of stress on the car, torque boxes etc when driving on the street.

Had one in my 99 ,kept it for a whole week then traded it out..

ive seen factory freak ls1s dyno at 325 stock at the wheels, and 350ish lb of torque.. anyway you cut it i think your gonna be toast, even if you beat him, with his 75 shot of juice, he should be into the 400rwhp range and into high 11s if he can drive..

I ran this local kid in my N/a 430rwhp 4th gen Trans am M6.whos got a 90gt,m5,306, cammed, vortech at around 8-9psi, exhaust, cobra intake, tune, and suspension.. the car is gorgeous, but i ate him big time, and he wasnt a bad driver, so really short of a big cube motor or tons of boost your not gonna beat him with boltons if he sprays on you.. Ls1s love the sauce, good luck tho, im lucky enough to have both of these beauties

I personally think you should be able to walk on him pretty good if he doesnt spray. Ive beaten a few LS1's at the track and i have a convertable with an automatic too. Maybe they werent the best of drivers, but i wasnt impressed with all the hype about them.

Last track day I went to in NY there were maybe 5-6 LS1s in the class slower than me. My class was the 12.50-13.49 class, and it seemed all the LS1s without a bunch of bolt ons were in the 13.50-14.49 class. Saw them running right at the 13.5-13.7 range, but the weather wasn't terrible. I was running 13.0-13.1s that day for reference.

I will say though, a bolt on LS1 is a monster, and on the spray it will run very strong.

He didn't spray, and he can't drive. You shouldn't have been able to pull on him. Ls1 cars have a lot of potential, but they are usually highly limited to the driver.

I agree with everything but the "LS1's are dogs out of the hole". They cut 1.6 60's all day long on stock suspension.

Yep. I've seen many run 1.6s-1.7s on 17" drag radials with bone stock suspension. Again, they have a ton of potential, but are driver limited.

If I didnt spend like I did. I belive I could have beat him .
I pulled hard in second when I caught traction.
When I hit third I was at his door.
We will see were we are at later this week when i get the new gears and tires.

I want to know when 5.0 owners became pansies. It seems like any time you mention the term LS1, everyone runs and hides for cover. My old h/c/i mustang used to destroy LS1s from a stop and from a roll. I even beat a 1LE Z28 with a couple minor bolt-ons. The 1LEs are light-optioned factory LS1s that weigh less than usual. This particular one made 311 rwhp, and I walked away from it on a highway roll despite the 4.10s that were in my rear-end.

Apparently, because you're racing an LS1, everyone else would rather assume that you're going to lose. I'm going to side with you and say that it's not the driver, and that your car is faster. Go race 'im again, and kill him again. With gears and tires, next time it'll be a slaughter from a stop.......unless he sprays, in which case it's your ass. Go get some nitrous too.

Agreed! dont be afraid of the LS1. Most LS1 cars at my track are light bolt on cars still stuck in the mid 13's. A h/c/i fox will murder that! There are a few very fast built LS1's, but theres always foxes that are just as quick, if not quicker. This is just my experience at my track though.

Well there are tons of fast ones out there. I have a few friends with ones that run strong. Blackened knows the guy who has a bolt on cam only car running 11s @ just under 120 mph. He gives HCI blower cars runs all the time.

A well driven ls1 with a t-56 is going to trap 107-110 mph. Full interiors and accessories. No weight "tricks."

Your "typical" h/c/i mustangs trap in that range.

In this case, with equal drivers, you would lose anywhere above launch.

I have raced MANY (street (stupid) and strip) and drove a couple.

Who ever said that gears and tires dont make a differance they lie.
Whent with 3.90 gears and nittio tires 555 drag raidels.
Busted him out of the hole and never looked back after 4.5 cars.
So know i got put up with him crying all day poor poor LS1.
He still cant drive.
1 for the stang a 20 year old stang at that
