Hey guys need some help with some strange overheating issues. The car is fine while idling (the temps actually come down) but will overheat when on the road. Any ideas? The car is a 90 vert with t a Procharger. When we got the car it was overheating like crazy, we changed everything aluminum rad, electric fan, new water pump, new thermostat and it still was overheating. We pulled the motor and found that the clearances were Way too tight. So we had the motor redone and still overheating. Ive got no idea what to do now.

Do you have a custom tune or are you running an ignition system that retards timing with boost? If your coolant system is all checked out and working well, and your sure no head passages are blocked (from backwards gasket or w/e) I'd maybe look at timing. I'm still learning alot about forced induction but I thought as boost went up timing went down 16deg with 10 psi just sounded high to me, also what kind of fuel are you running?

what kind of temp gauge are you using? have you tried another gauge yet? When my ranchero would drive around town fine and only overheat on the freeway, it was because my radiator needed rodding out.

Is there an air dam under the car? If not, install one.

Good luck.

you need to post some temps for us so we can see what the heck is going on. you could have a wacky gauge, are you actually boiling over? you need to install another gauge, wether use a temporary one or not to get a reading of the fluid at idle and while driving. when we can read the temps you are pushing may help to find a result. waht are you running for a water pump, heads and other motor mods. also what are your timing settings?
