Guys and Gals could use some input and ideas here, my 95 is running what appears to be lean, I pulled some plugs out the other day and they are really white to me it does not look healthy at all, I am sure the lean factor is also causing the pinging that i get sometimes, I have cleaned the maf, the air and fuel filters are nearly new, i have checked and double checked the timing it is set at 10, i know it is right i just replaced the balancer, what the hell is causing this? The car has about 106k on it and runs very strong, o2's maybe? Any help would be great i just want to be able to rev past 4k thanks for the help Dan

Have the codes pulled and see if its pointing to the O/2s??? Replace the stock F/P regulator, at 106k it may very well be faulty...what kinda fuel pressure do you have??? maybe that needs to be verified first...Is the fuel pump still the stock/original at 106k??

If it only pings at WOT, it's probably not the O2's.

How hot does the car get? Does it only ping when it's hot?

Make sure your timing is at 10° if it's running poorly.

You might want to replace the ACT sensor (it's cheap) and clean your MAF. Cleaning the MAF will do wonders in many cases.

Do you have a fuel pressure guage? You should test the fuel system to make sure it's up to par. Go get the tester, you'll need it someday anyway. Also buy a Haynes or Chiltons manual which will also be really helpful. It will show you how to test your fuel system stuff, it's pretty easy.

Also, run a tank of Techron or something to maybe help clean the injectors. This rarely does anything, but it's worth a shot.

You may want to replace the fuel filter as well, just to make sure you're getting enough flow.

Sad part is, I've had every problem listed above at some point, so I couldn't say which one is the most probable cause. :owned:
