I have an 89 GT 5spd. Pretty much stock except for exhaust. I put on FRPP Jet Hot shorties, BBK h-pipe, and Flowmasters about a little over a year ago. While I was doing some maintenance the other day, I noticed what appears to be some light rust on my headers. Has anyone else had this problem? I bought them from Jeg's, and have not contacted them yet.

Cosmetic rust and discoloration are not covered by the Jet-Hot warranty. They warranty against rust through only.

My FIRST pair had little rust spots on them after 2,300 miles, so i called jegs and they let me exchange them because it was still under 1 year. I now have my second pair and they have done the same exact thing. I decided that it's not worth the hassle to take them off and send them in. I am very dissapointed, you pay extra for the Jet-hot and this crap happens.

Mine FMS Headers are five years old and have tiny rust spots all over them and any sharp edges have rust too. I bought mine from Steeda and they said as written above, the rust had to be all the way through the headers.

I'm just sooo disappointed. Like mustangramair said, you pay extra for Jet Hot, and this is what happens. AAARRRGGGHH! Given what you guys have experieced, I'll just leave them on and chalk it up to experience. Thanks for the input.

Just think how much worse they would be without the Jet-Hot coating.......granted they may not look all that great, but at least they haven't rusted through...........

Particularly interesting as the FRPP headers are stainless steel.....I had my FRPP shorties ceramic coated locally by a small shop that does that. Over 2 years and about 10K miles on them -- they've lost a bit of gloss (actually I'm glad they did - I HATE chrome/polished stuff on my car), but other than that they're holding up brilliantly.

My MAC equal length shorties rusted like Nick said above, and my BBK LTs are doing the same thing. Personally it annoys me but not too much since I bought the headers for performance instead of looks. I also realize that constant heating and cooling of metal, especially if in a more humid climate will cause rust.

I run MAC shorties and I also have that cosmetic rust... but as mentioned before, I don't really care as long as I can still get the performance aspect out of them... (and not let them rust thru...)

Yeah, but so are the stock 5.0 "headers".........and they always surface rusted BAD. My FRPP ceramic shorties have dulled a bit, too - but no surface rust spots........and they have seen a few New England winters, salt and all.........
