Rust Problems in the Trunk

Currently trying to sell my 1966 Mustang. Great paint and interior etc etc, but theres one problem, I just recently found rust so bad in two spots inside the trunk I can say the value of her has gone down quite a bit. :damnit:

Anyways, can any of you with some bodywork experience tell me how bad this rust is and would it be very costly to repair?

Dont look to bad to me, but it does look like some tried to cut the Rust out with tin snips! Buy a pair of repo trunk floors and have someone patch them! You dont need to replace the whole trunk floors! Are the frame rails rusted!

They werent snipped at all. Thats from me chipping away at all the brittle chunks of rust!

The rails right below them have rust but nothing like what I hacked away at. I've brushed most of it off with a wire brush. Would you recommend using the spray that eats away rust?

i had to cut mine out....and they were sorta like yours.......i dont know i just figured if your gonna do it, then do it right dont half ass it...

This is one of the more common places for severe rusting on Mustangs. I am in the process of doing mine right now. Looks like your frame rails are well on the way out too. I just did the LH side this past weekend and plan to do the other side here soon. I am doing the partial frame rails and the trunk floors aswell. You can get full frame rails or the last couple of feet of it or so. Unless you just put a trunk floor patch on top it is a fairly involved process. Involves good measuring/cutting/alignment/welding/grinding and alignment skills. Have a look from the bottom side I'll bet it is worse from that view? This is the spot were all the road grime/salt/water & mud gets thrown and sticks. If you start I would go in with the idea that you will be changing your trunk floors and the partial frame rails and maybe more.

Yea the rust on the rails is definitely there, but i scraped them really good and nothing more than a very very thin layer of crud came off.

I plan on taking her to a mustang shop tomorrow and getting a guesstimate quote on how much it will cost to get all this squared away. Whatever that is I'm taking that much and then some off the selling price.

That seems like a fair approach. I remember getting a body man gave me a quote as a side job of $300.00(quite awhile ago) labor only. I spent about $200.00 on the parts(recent parts price). BTW mine looked and was alot worse than yours some body had patched mine over which made it even worse. I will see if I can post a picture of the piece cut out.
