So I have been posting a couple pictures of my progress in the wheel, but I am in need of advice now so hopefully one of you experts can point me in the right direction. I have owned this coupe for 14 years, its had 5 motors in and out since then. It was sitting for the last 8 years after I sold the Dart based 331 and YSI blower back then I was able to sell the motor and buy my 1993 cobra.

Since I have been down the build something and buy everything route, and then sell it for a 1/4 of the value. I went out and purchased someone's money pit, a 1989 hatch with everything major needed. So I swapped most of the suspension and running gear, with lots of cleaning and painting in between. Here were the details.
392W Ford Motorsport S/B
Z- heads
Trickflow upper (going away)
TKO600
5 Lug - Tubular K memeber with 1/2" spacer and solid lowering engine mounts

My main goal's for this build are to have a STOCK hood at all costs and A/C with a clean back to Stock appearance especially in the interior. I have removed 7 Guages from there, what was I doing??? This is what I have done so far, cleaned interior and put new stereo and speakers with sub, swapped the suspension, put a 95 booster and MC in, long block is in with trans, working on Fan setup with new radiator, going to use my FAST system (its old but better then running a MAF) Which leaves me open for Throttle body options where my confusion is at right now.
So now I am stuck on the upper intake(lower Spyder EFI carb style), Should I run an elbow and a normal Throttle body, or should I try one of these Carb Style EFI throttle boiddies. They are expensive but in the end going to be about the same price, my main concern is hood clearance. I would have to have someone fabricate me a Hat and connection to the AFM cold air pipe but I might get more clearance, seems like a lot of work but maybe an option might look cleaner.

Not sure about getting a stock hood on a 351w based build but I'm sure with enough $ and creativity it can be done.
I have a 393w in my 93GT with vert motor mounts , Edelbrock Victor EFI and a Mach I style fiberglass hood.
I do get a slight amount of rubbing on the highest corner of the upper intake. Actually thinking about going to
a 2.5" cowl steel hood or modifying my stock hood.

@Vettn71 was running a Tb setup for a little while, pretty sure he swapped to a carb though. I know Matt @74stang2togo has the MSD setup, but I don’t think he’s a fan

My 351 *would* have fit under a stock hood with the carb-style intake and elbow, but the linkage was hitting the fuel rails and I had to use a spacer. I could have used K member spacers, but I decided to spend a grand on a cowl hood and paint instead....

I was running a FITech injection system, but whoever installed it put the 1200 hp version on. It dynoed at 280 hp. We just couldn’t get it to run smoothly because it was so oversized. It had 4 75 lb injectors. Nice system, bad application

I’ve looked in to this. It’s been done with gt40 tubular and convertible motor mounts, and k member spacers. The pics are gone but I was gonna do it the same way. I even bought the spacers.

I have a 351w in my fox with the tubular and I just slammed the hood and it got dented by the intake. I am hoping to find or make a subtle scoop or bulge eventually.

HO Fibertrends makes fiberglass hoods without cowl induction, so it appears stock, yet offers more clearance because it doesn't have the bracing and doesn't use the mat.

I have a '86 F-150 with the 351W and have been thinking of fuel injecting it. Figuring between factory and aftermarket. Decided to go aftermarket. If you're looking for one with all the goodies and optional tuning from your cell phone, Edelbrock has it nailed ( for a price of 3k+).

This is the one I decided on - https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sne-550-511k

Fully tunable with all the features I would want. Has dual fan controls programmed right from the tuner module. Seems to be a really nice system for the money ($1200).
