I have a '91 with a blown engine due to the failure of my S/N 95 fan that was only 3 months old. Some guys on the Fox board recommended heading over here to see if I could gather anymore info on problems with these fans. Anyone have any input?

We had recalls on our fans.

It sounds like you may have gotten a fan that hadn't had the proper work performed.

When was that recall? The fan was purchased brand new about 3 months ago.

When I bought mine in Dec of '02 the recall wasn't done and then i got the letter after I had it registered. Got the recall done and then the fan froze on me a couple months ago so i put an aftermarket in.

It overheated the car and blew the head gaskets. Dunno how much damage was done to the engine, but it's cheaper to just replace the whole thing.

recall

I actually just got my recall done a few months back. The bearing seized on the fan and the harness began to melt. They replaced the fan for free and put a relay on the harness.
