My installer told me that I wouldnt be able to use my already installed Autometer Oil Pressure Gauge with the Vortech since the pickup was used by the blower?? Is there any other way to get the gauge to work?

Also, how much moaning from my SQ should I hear? Its brand new, and I know the whistle is normal, but it moans almost like a bearing is bad. I'm sure I'm just beaing paranoid, but just want to make sure.

You can get a fitting that splits the oil pressure boss into a "T" .... one side is your oil pressure sender, one is your oil pickup

I'm not sure how much this would throw your oil pressure readings off though....if it did at all, it really should be by much.

Also, mine made a moaning/garbage disposal type sound....it was in 100% working order so I'm gonna say it's natural

The Vortech kit is supposed to come with fittings that allow you to hook up the oil feed line from where the oil pressure sender originally screws into the block and the oil pressure sender. If you are using the original sending unit you should have no problems, if you are using an aftermarket one (autometer, perhaps?) my only concern would be clearances, as with my stock sending unit I had to have everything aligned fairly perfectly. I also had to use teflon tape on all threads in that area, despite the instructions saying strictly not to.

Noise from an SQ, I don't think you should be hearing a whistle from a SQ. You definitely should from a V1 S-trim, but not a V2 SQ-trim.

the oil line under the blower is the return line which isnt pressurized. you couldnt tap the oil pressure gauge there even if you wanted to. what you need is a t-fitting to split off of the sending unit. mine looks like this:

look down and to the right and you will see it.

as far as the V2 SQ goes, it should be nearly silent at idle. it should only make any noticeable noice at full throttle and even then it is still fairly quiet. the V1 makes a loud off pitch whining noise at idle and screams under wide open throttle. if the headunit says V2 SQ on the badge plate and it is making noise like you are describing, there is definitely something wrong with it. you can look at these clips to hear my V1 at idle to give you an idea:

hope that helps.....

The sound you are hearing sounds like what I heard on mine when I got it. Kinda freaked me out that it wasnt just a straight whine. Never had a problem with it, I wouldnt really worry about it. Mine has been running great for 2 years now.
