Does anyone know if S197 Front brakes can be put on a Fox? I figure that a bracket is all that would be needed but I havent done any sort of research on it yet. then the use of GT take-off wheels would solve any caliper clearance issue. the mark?VII? rotors are what I would like to use or if possible the S197 rotors too. does anyone have any insight on this?????

Negative on the brakes. Won't even be close.

The S197 17x8 wheels will work if you run an SN95 conversion front (preferable 96+ spindles) and rear disk conversion.

why wouldnt S197 brakes work? and why would you need to have a disc conversion in the rear to use the new wheels? the drums should have no problem clearing as long as its a 5 lug hub. I dont see why making a bracket to adapt the 07 calipers to the fox spindles...

I am, but I figured if there was any insight or if someone else had tried it before and had some issues that i could get a heads up. this is not a priority on my Fox however. I am having rear end issues (feels like a ball rolling back and forth in a box) and fuel/electrical problems (sputter/stutter on launch but gone in higher rpms). SO, that means that right now this is just a thought.

I dont think Drums in the rear would work at all with the offset of the newer wheels.

It would be cool to be able to use the "cobra" brake upgrade of the 05-07s

Because the mounting ears and rotor offset are completely different. This isn't like the SN95 and fox which were the same basic chassis. Putting S197 brakes on a a Fox is pretty much the same as trying to put Ferrari brakes on it. Nothing is similar. The rotor offset is different, the mounting ears are actually wider and the caliper is held at a different angle. It's not gonna mount to a Fox spindle at all either. Same holds for the rear brakes. Ford changed the axle mounting flange and some other components.

Putting S197 brakes on a Foxc would have to be a totally custom job, and for cheaper and easier you could juts put Cobra 13" brakes on and have a better brake setup than the 12" S197 setup.

and why would you need to have a disc conversion in the rear to use the new wheels? the drums should have no problem clearing as long as its a 5 lug hub.

Because the offset of the wheels is about 3/4" deeper than SN95 wheels. If you mount an S197 wheel on a 5-lug drum setup, the backside of the wheel will rub the shock, quad shock and inside wheel well liner. That's why you need to do the Sn95 brake swap, because it will push the mounting flange for the wheel out that extra 3/4". The SN95 front spindles will also help push the front wheels up and eat up that extra offset. 96+ Spindles are recommended
