I'm interested in keeping an 18-inch wheel size but desire a wider wheel--10-inches--if I get a S550.

However, aftermarket options tend to be 19-inch or higher.

I'm looking at some options on AM but cannot tell if it will fit the S550. I like these a lot.

Who has a he technical specifications for each wheel on the S550, and who knows if older wheels that did fit on S197s would fit on the new platform?

I guess this note from the wheel product page would indicate that the 14 inch brakes of the S550 would not fit:

"Application Note. This wheel does not fit BOSS, Shelby GT500, Brembo equipped GT's or aftermarket big brake kits"

I like these.

Seems the lugs continue in the same vein as 2014 and earlier.

They make new pistons every day, so why worry?

From everything that I've read the S197 wheels will fit the S550.
I know personally that my S550 18" wheels fit my buddy's 2013 GT with no trouble at all.
As far as diameter goes, an 18" wheel should fit a non pp car without issue. FWIW the 20x10's that I have on my S550 have a 7" backspace
Keep in mind that lugnuts for the s550 are now 14x1.5 vs the older 1/2-20

FYI all mustangs from 1994 to the 2017's use the same 5 x 4.5" (114.3mm) bolt pattern, so technically they will bolt on. Now here's where it get tricky, generally the wheel needs to be at least 4" larger than the largest brakes on the vehicle. So if you have 14" brakes then you need at least an 18" wheel. The S-550 front brakes come in 3 sizes, the plain v-6 and plain ecoboost get 12.6" brakes so in theory a 17" wheel will fit. The standard GT and ecoboost with performance pack gets 13.9" brakes so you need at least an 18", and finally the GT with performance pack gets 15" front brakes so they require at least a 19"

Now wheel backspace and width will vary with bodystyle, chances are a 20x10 designed to fit the back of an S-550 will not fit under the body of an SN-95 even tho it will fit over the wheel studs and clear the brakes.

Also keep in mind, different body styles may have different hub bore diameters. If you choose a wheel that has a smaller bore than your car then you will need to have the bores in the wheels opened up, conversely, if your bore is too big you will need spacer rings to take up the difference especially if the wheels are hub centric. Hub centric wheels use the hub itself to align and center the wheel on the axle/hub. Lug centric uses the lug nuts to center and align the wheel

One aspect not touched on here is stud/lug size difference. S197's have 1/2" studs and S550's have larger 14mm studs. As an example, have fitted our PP S550 wheels to our S197, they fit fine and the offset is correct. However the S197's wheels will not mount on the S550 because the wheel studs being 14mm are too large.
