no more starbucks!! Yeah you heard it.. We were officially thrown out tonight and asked not to EVER come back by the Beaverton jerk off police.. We are not allowed to be in the wellsfargo or freddys parking lot so I asked if we could go around to the fed-ex and he was a total azz and responded with " you cannot park in any parking lots unless you are conducting business and then when your done you need to leave...

For some reason they were looking at me and talking to me...

So, my question is. Is the SB open 24hours? Does SB give you permission to use the lot? IF SB has no problems with you all using the lot, then the cops can't say anything about you being there. Sounds like a power trip to me.

This sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We had the same problem up here in the Everett/ Mill Creek area last summer,
We use to hang out at a Place called Burgermaster, but they didn't want us there, and started having off duty cops there every Sat. night , and imposing ridiculous, rules, like how much you had to spend per person and how long you could be there, it got to the point that it wasn't worth going there, so we found another spot that actually likes having us there.
Now I drive by the old Burgermaster on Sat. nights and it looks like a ghost town HA HA HA!!!!!
I've been tempted to stop in and ask them if they like having no buissness now,
They said that we hurt their buissness and took parking from there regular good customers! well I've driven past there many times since then and it is always dead!
I quess they got what they asked for,no more car people, how sad!!!
My suggestion, just find a new spot to meet!!!
We need more spots like the Triple XXX in Issaquah Wa. They cater to the car crowd!
Good Luck!!!!

See Ya Bill

Ah yes, that brings back memories. The owner of that Burgermaster wasn't the best of business-men. I tried to reason with him, but he just got stupid, so there ya go.

if a cop is harassing you. Then it's simple harrassment. Perhaps a 3rd party person should video the event of the cop tryign to tally up receipts on who spent what. Then confront their supervisor or captain. Do not make a new spot. Just park closer to star bucks to establish the fact your there for coffee.

Or with the attention cops been having lately on beatings in portland confront the newspaper. They'd love to write an article on 30-40 year olds not allowed to go to star bucks on a evening because they dont' purchase enough items per person or based on teh car they drive. Especially when there are no records of any of us doing ANY violation in the parking lot. Not even a noise violation complaint has been seen by me.

Yes, the Starbucks is open 24 hours. It was the first one anywhere to be open 24 hours and was one of the most profitable locations in the chain for some time. This particular Starbucks franchise is in an outer corner of a larger building owned by Fred Meyer (Croger Corporation). As such, this franchise owner rents or leases the space from Fred Meyer. The parking lot got so wild a few years ago, especially after a few well publicized incidents, that Fred Meyer put pressure on the franchise owner to quell the activities. He changed some rules, as well as cooperated with Beaverton Police to keep kids and car/bike enthusiasts from clogging up the parking lot. So, to answer your question, neither Fred Meyer, nor Starbucks welcome our meets in their collective parking lot. This is why we moved way out into the middle of an unused lot a few years ago. They have since built a bank where we used to meet and many ricers have copied the idea and started meeting there as well. They are the ones who predominately leave trash on the ground and speed through the parking lots. It was only a matter of time before customers and owners complained.
That being said, the cop was a huge dick about the whole situation. He was very condescending.

interesting, they dont want kids street racing and causing trouble, so the kids find a way to hang out peacefully and support a local business, and then are ran off again, back to street racing and creating trouble. Gotta love it

If the kids were hanging out peacefully and not causing trouble, the cops would probably not be causing any trouble. It is likely that our little group of people would have been able to meet there indefinitely if not for the ricer kids. They were constantly doing stupid antics in the other part of the parking lot, getting into fights, and even pulling a gun on at least one occasion -- repeatedly gaining the attention of the local constabulary. When they started joining us in the bank parking lot, that was the beginning of the end.

Find a place to meet where the children are nowhere to be found. Set a behavior requirement (no burn outs, etc) for participation, and the cops will leave us alone. Even better, maybe one of the local Mustang enthusiasts is rich and has a nice big [and warm] house and a nice big driveway for parking . Like Keith...
