Hood locks and you can pull the coil cable... anything to slow them down.

Well, cars get stolen even in "good" areas. Some people just pull the coil wire when they leave, but that won't stop a thief from ripping things off on the inside of the car.

The first place they'll look for a kill switch is under the dash, in the glove box, and under the seats. Make sure it's well hidden, or it'll probably only slow them down for a few seconds. I always thought it would be funny to rig up a series of switches which all have to be positioned correctly in order to start the vehicle (i.e. 1 off, 1 on, 2 off, 1 on, in some random order..) then if the car did get broken in to but not stolen, I could laugh later on about how the thief probably sat there scratching his or her head about what the hell the right way to set the switches was.

Surprisingly, alarms don't seem to scare thiefs anymore. Their lookout will just play it off like they can't figure out the remote if somebody walks by, and the chances of a cop being around... well you know how that works. If your alarm has a pager that alerts you when the alarm trips, that's probably about as good as you can do.

Sorry to sound negative, but car theft is everywhere.. take pleasure in knowing you're at least 1 step ahead of 80% of the rest of the cars on the road which aren't equipped with any sort of theft deterrant.

I like the idea of the quick relese steering wheel. or you could pull the fuse for your fuel pump and put a fake (blown) one in it's place or another fuse that will keep the car from starting. I doubt a thief would look in the fuse pannel for a missing or blowen fuse.

If a car theif want's your car bad enough he/she will take it. Trust me. I have lost 2 Mustangs.

Removing the steering wheel is a great idea. So is the brake pedal lock. I personally like to remove the rotor when I leave my car unattended for long periods of time.

We can only slow them down. I use the break/clutch lock in addition to my alarm but if they are really determined I bet they can get around that now with some effort. On my 70 I use a chain and padlock to lock the hood and I pull the coil wire. At least I know it can't drive away on its own power.

I've been thinking about the same stuff for quite a while. I usually puul the fuel pump relay and coil wire.

But here in texas the big thing now for theives is to use a tow truck to tow away (steal) cars. This stuff happens everyday in houston. If they want it bad enough they will take it.

The best and only thing i can think of is to get a LO-JAC . At least with that if they steal it it can be traced pretty quickly. Since my mother inlaw works for a dealership in the aftermarket sales department se said she can get me one for under $500 with the early warning. So thats hwat i'm going to do.
