i have an 88 gt, converted to mass air. it has 103k miles, ive had it since 99k.

i have some edelbrock performer heads, and a e-cam to install. my compression is 135 in all cylinders, doesnt burn oil.

my plan is this winter or asap, just installing the heads. once i can afford a new shortblock i will install the cam with it also. does this seem safe or should i hold off all together until i can rebuild it also?

car will be seeing about 20 miles a day versus the 50 is see's now also if that matters. thanks for any input

just do the heads and cam together...it will make your life much easier. but you should be fine. i talked to a local engine builder today about building an engine for me and he said if it doesnt burn oil than leave it alone and just throw on what you want and run it until it does. this was while he was working on a ginormous big block ford motor with a huge blower on it.

ok. well i might just put my money on some afr's instead of edelbrocks now, and get a nicer intake/cam/shortblock later on.

main concern is putting heads on for the moment.

thanks for the input
