Ive already done the search but couldnt come up with anything good. I have 1.7 rockers right now and Im doing heads and a cam this winter. I have a set of Edelbrock Performer Heads 1.90/1.60, and I love the sound of the E-cam. Ive heard the performance is pretty good to. I realize its not the best performing cam on the market thats not what im after, I just wanna know if the piston to valve clearance will be to close. I know the e-cam has .498 of lift and with the 1.7 rockers it would bump it up to .528. So is it safe??

heck I run it on my car they are actually 1.72's so it is about 530 lift, and with the stock heads I dont have a prob, you shouldnt either.

Stock heads have much smaller valves than Edelbrock Performers.

I've had both Edelbrock and FRPP tech lines say "no" to this exact question. They both recommend 1.6 rollers.

i have dart pro one heads with the e and my engine builder insisted on 1.6's(i am a bigger is always better kinda guy), i trust him implicitly, he said i really did not need more lift and it would be to close on the p to v but your application may be different

Yes they can still hit if you float them, so invest in some quality valve springs.

I just have the ones that came on my heads from FRPP, along with the stainless steel valves. are they any good?

I dont know about the springs that come with the GT-40 heads, but TFS recomends these springs when using the TFS stage 1 cam and 1.7 rockers which produces similar lift to that of the E cam with 1.7 rockers. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=TFS-31400414&N=700+0&autoview=sku

according to summit racing, those tfs springs have:

Installed Height (in) - 1.800 in.
Seat Pressure at Installed Height (lbs) - 125 lbs.
Open Pressure (lbs) - 365 lbs.

and the frpp springs have:

Installed Height (in) - 1.800 in.
Seat Pressure at Installed Height (lbs) - 125 lbs.
Open Pressure (lbs) - 325 lbs.

how big of a difference is this?
