Saleen Extreme | GT500 Comparison Questions

Hey Guys!,
I have a quick question for you guys here at stagnet. I heard somehwere I dont remember where, so I am not giving it alot of credit till I see some real numbers, but I was wondering if any of you guys knew the weight of the GT500? I heard on another forum or maybe it was this one that the GT500 is gonna weigh 4100+ pounds and I was wondering if this was true.
On Saleens website they say the new S281-E has a curb weight around 3550. I was curious I know the Engine in the GT500 is gonna be around 5.4L and stuff but I dont see where the extra 500+ pounds is comming from and I know im not making a clear comparison im just speculating using the Extreme from Saleen as a refrence point if that makes any sence . "They just seem to be realy similar and Im wondering if the Extreme is a better buy than the GT500 if the car will be used for speed.
I am also curious if anyone has heard about pricing for the S281-E. I would like to know how much its gonna be so I can compare it to the GT500.

the gt 500 is using a iron 5.4 block and other heavier parts the extreme has a aluminum 4.6 block thats almost 150 pounds in teh block alone

then the heavier heavy dute internals etc

First, I think saleen is using the base weight of a GT mustang as an approximation. I doubt the Shelby will break 4000 lbs, just my humble opinion.

I think the saleen will run circles around a stock Shelby. But it should. It will cost nearly twice as much depending on options. 2004 S281Es sold for mid $60k MSRP to give you a "ballpark" figure.
The car will be sick, no doubt. Shelby wins for "bang for the buck." Saleen wins just about everything else.
And I hate to say it, but as the Saleen approaches $70k I keep looking at the Z06 and thinking

Hmmme in terms of modifing do you think the 5.4l will have more potential or will the Saleen engine?

I Personally think the Saleen looks better than what ive seen of the GT500, But I appreciate everyone elses opinion so "To Each There Own" I guess

Swap out the roots style supercharger on the GT500 to a kenne bell twin screw supercharger and you're pushing 700bhp. And still under the MSRP of a Saleen 281 extreme.
