Roush Saleen Mustang ? Real one ?

Can someone help me with some more info, does it looks like a real Saleen, Anybody know ?
Its an -88, supercharged, 320hp engine. Thanks,

Looks like a real one. Also looks like a real rough one, as well. Changed hood, missing decals, missing door belt moulding. The supercharger would have been added, aftermarket, not put on by Saleen, not in 1988. Bonus, that the interior looks mint, however. If you are in Norway, I can't even imagine how scarce a real Fox-body Saleen is!!! I can count on one hand the number of real Fox era Saleens that I have seen, and I live in the Continental US! Although New Hampshire is quite rural....lol

Thanks a lot. Yes, It looks like if It had a hard life, but Its so difficult to find one here overseas. This car is in Germany, and they are like you say , rare.
If Its in possible to fix condition, I may thinking of buying It. (approx $13000)
Would bee really nice to own one, and build it back to Saleen style.
Was the rollbar ekstra, and rear seat delte as well ?

Ps, I was visiting Texas and Louisiana last year,for three weeks, and I saw 4 Fox Mustangs... ?

The rollbar and rear seat delete would not be factory from Saleen, these modifications were done, aftermarket. $13000 is very high, in the US that would be a low of $4K, high of $6K car, but since it is overseas already, that may be a fair price. It will cost you several additional thousands of dollar$ to bring this car back to factory original

As far as seeing that many Fox Saleens in Texas, I am not at all surprised. The majority of all Saleens go to 1. California 2. Texas and 3. Florida and their surrounding states! Distribution was definitely favored to the warm-weather states, as you can enjoy the cars, year round! I say haggle with the seller on the price and GO FOR IT!

Thanks again. Its only 1hour 20min flight from here, and we can have a weekend down there as well. 6 hours drive to the north coast, and ferry from Germany to Norway.
Good idea, I will try to give him a lower offer, and see what he does.

The main things that you want to check for are the Saleen specific items. Fox body replacement parts are plentiful, but the Saleen stuff is like gold and difficult to come by and expensive to purchase! Exterior you want to make sure that the 4-piece body kit is in good shape, no cracks or broken pieces, paint chips are inevitable. The Saleen wing is in place, and it appears that the wheels and centercaps are intact. The decals are all missing, a complete replacement set will cost you around $300, not including overseas shipping! The interior, the seats are there, and look to be in good shape, but the rear seat is missing, and it came with a matching Saleen cover. The door panels are in place and llok to be in good condition. Check for the steering wheel, shift knob and radio/equalizer package. Also check for the console plaque, the plaque in the engine compartment appears to be in place. Other things are the floormats and any Saleen specific documentation? The suspension components are more than likely in place, but I would still check. Springs, shocks and swaybars were all Saleen spec/Racecraft parts. Also the catback system, should be a Dynomax assembly? I know that is a lot to remember, write yourself up a checklist, when looking at the car. Keep us updated with your findings and Good Luck!

Huh? Oregon had one of the highest (if not THE highest) amout of Fox Saleens sold during their era thanks to Damerow Ford. They sold more Fox Saleens then any dealer in the world. Many of these cars still reside in this part of the country. You won't see many cause nobody drives them. The word must be out about the price they are bringing for a good condition low mile car.

Last three digits of the Ford VIN should be 575.

Car was shipped 06/03/88.

First and only owner listed was in CA.

No options besides the standard Saleen stuff.

As Bill said, the Pacific Northwest has a very high concentration of Saleen Mustangs. Between Bill, Dennis (SEMA88), another friend and myself, we have five Fox body Saleens and could easily round up another 4 or 5 among our circle of friends here locally.

86GTStang, if you're interested in getting a Saleen Mustang, you really should considering ordering up a copy of The Saleen Book to educate yourself a bit about the cars.

As far as that car goes, from what I can see in the pictures it doesn't look that bad. I've seen cars that look worse than that being advertised for over $10000 here. As long as the Saleen-specific parts are there, it may be a good deal, considering that it is already over there. Some things to look at specifically are the condition of the seats, steering wheel and shift knob. The seat fabric is no longer available and the wheel and knob are very difficult to find in good condition and very pricey when you do.

One other recommendation for you: You might want to visit the Saleen Club of America forums with any specific questions. They're a very knowledgable group and are more than willing to help out a newcomer to the Saleen world.

Metalcop was right. The Saleen specific items are the important ones. Late Model Restorations has just about all the stock Mustang parts now. Right now the entry level Saleens seem to be in the $8000-$10,000 range. Performance Autosport can help you with current value and parts replacement. There are 11 fox saleens in Vancouver/Portland area alone that I am somewhat close with. We dont like clubs, so this is why many dont see them.

That may be high but it is in Europe already. If you were to buy a decent one here for $10K, how much would it cost to ship it overseas? That could be the deciding factor in getting a fox body Saleen in your possession. Good luck.

Thanks for the input. Well, thats the problem. I have to pay around $2200 for shipping , included insurance. Then I have to pay for transport to a harbor, between 500 and 800dollar. AND, I would like to see/test a car I whanna buy, and then i have to spend another$1000 in travelcost, plus 9-12 hours flight, one way.. On top of it, the time and planning of going overseas. I checked the travelcost for Oslo - Dusseldorf(Germany), both ways, only $136.
Because the car allready is registrated and has all documentation for legal driving in Europe, it would bee easy for me to get it registrated here in Norway ( have to pay a tax, of caurse ) Me.
