Saleen or Roush???????

I've been thinking of upgrading to either the Saleen or the Roush but i can't decide what i want. Help me out, what would you pick and why. Both Supercharged models, so no stage 1 stuff. I don't see many Saleens any more and see many Roushes in the metroplex.

Saleen on looks alone. I think the Roush has a bit of an "boy racer" appearance. Once saw them parked alongside each other and it was the Saleen that really did it for me. No doubting the Roush is a good car though. Have you thought about the Steeda Screaming Q? It gets great handling reviews and there's a piece about it on the MM&FF website.

If I had your money......

I would go with the Roush. The looks of the Saleen just don't do it for me. To put things in perspective though, you can't go wrong with either one.

Here's a couple that has his and hers Saleen S281 and Roush Stage 2! The guy drives the Saleen (check out the license plates).

I'd go roush only because I could tweak up the looks a bit more to my liking. The Saleen is a nice whip, there are styling elements I don't like on it (most of the back) but I will say I prefer the Saleen hood by a mile.

i myself am probably the biggest SALEEN fan in the world, at least until they brought out this new body style. for personal reasons, i would still pick a Saleen. ok, now with the problems. i have had a chance more than once to "carefully" inspect both cars, and i have to be honest, the Saleen has issues. at least to me it does. if you inspect closely, you will notice the body kit don't line up correctly, the gaps can be terrible. to me, if paying $40K plus for ANY car, it better be perfect! the interior is not all that great either. the stitching looks crooked, and the leather doesn't look like it was pulled tight. again, this is just my opinion, and my findings. i haven't personally seen anything wrong with the Roush line, but the one thing i don't like is a stick on bumper extension, and that's what you get with a Roush, so they both have issues to me. but my choice would be the Saleen. personally, if you can find a dealer that will sell you a GT500 for sticker, i would go that route instead of either...

Ummm.... The Stage 3 Roush is like 30k less than the S281 SC...... Think of what you could put on the Roush for that price difference. If it were me, I'd look into the Shelby (as an investment, the minute Shelby dies that car becomes more valuable) or the Roush 427R or 427R Drag Pak.

I've heard bad things about the build quality of Saleens too. Some stories of the paint coming off after a few years too I believe. I've looked at a few up close and the details don't impress me much either. For example, the slats on the vents in the hood are just cheap plastic and look like they could break pretty easily.

well, like i said, i do like the Saleen, but with the issues they have, even if they are only cosmetic, i would be hard pressed to pay $40K for one. i would rather invest in a Shelby, or even a Shelby GT, like the other poster said, once Mr. Shelby passes on, those cars will become instant collectors...

if your going to spend 40 - 50 g's buy a Cobra, it has so much more potential dispite its portly weight.

The Saleen really doesn't do it for me, the "Euro" looks don't fit in with the scheme of the retro body.

The Roush on the other hand is a nice ride, probably handles better, but i'd still spring for the Cobra.

Personally...I'm split down the middle. Literally.

I like the front end of the Saleen but hate the rear end (looks like everything is slapped on there without any real effort). I hate the Saleen's wheels but love the front end, interior and hood.

But what does it matter? It's YOU that has to be happy with the car not us

I am a tad confused on this insatiable aggression towards Saleen for "helping out GM". Are any of you aware that FORD themselves have and still do collaborate WITH GM? Hell, their main brass even had a love-feast and discussed potential merger plans in September 2006.

Their main and ongoing joint venture partnership is called USCAR. It is alive and well and if this is unsuccessful with crossover application we will all be driving Toyotas or Hondas.

keep your GT...either one of those book for a regular GT! because in the future there will be something better that always comes out and your gonna wanna trade that thing and they will give you mustang GT value. why pay all that money when you could put all that stuff on yourself and have fun doing it!
